Different good restaurants. Good place to start a ski ride towards Wengen or Grindelwald. Great view to Eiger Mönch and Jungrau. In good wether it is worthwile to take the train up to Jungfraujoch.

“One of the most beautiful place I've seen”
Reviewed 10 December 2013

This whole place is absolutely amazing. It just feels fresh. I was here in summer in July and It was bustling with wildflowers and waterfalls. The hike from jungfrau to this city is absolutely outstanding. Its an easy hike with amazing views.

I highly recommend this place.

“Hiking Grosse Scheidegg”
Reviewed 11 November 2013

There are so many hikes in the area to choose from, and almost all are readily accessible from Grindelwald directly or from public transit from the center of town. This hike is a moderately challenging walk in that it is an hour and a half or so uphill. The constantly changing views are well worth the effort. We walked all the way back because the lifts were closed in the offseason. Again, a whole different set of views - all spectacular.

“Much quieter, less touristy than Kleine Scheidegg”
Reviewed 12 October 2013

We three stopped here while hiking through on the Via Alpina across the Swiss Alps. After the touristy junk, crowds and high prices at Kleine Scheidegg, we found Grosse Scheidegg to be much better. Some reach this place on foot (as we did). Others arrive on mountain bikes or road bikes. Still others come up by bus. No matter how you get here, it's a great place to relax, grab something to eat or drink, perhaps stay overnight, and definitely enjoy the views. The Wetterhorn is nearby, and views also include the Jungfrau group of peaks. We encountered very few English speakers here (fine by us). The vibe here is relaxed, outdoorsy and more genuinely Swiss than some other places in this region. Service at the nearby restaurant and hotel was attentive and courteous. If you can, stay overnight and enjoy the spectacular views at sunset and sunrise.

“Great starting point for hikes + best views of Wetterhorn”
Reviewed 11 September 2013

We did the hike to Schwartzhorn from here (came up early in the morning with the Post bus from Grindelwald)--it's cheaper and the views are better than from the gondola to First. (But we did take the gondola down from First at the end of the day.)

Grosse Scheidegg also offers the best vantage point to the awesomeness that is Wetterhorn. :)
