We did the hike from Schynige Platte to faulhorn which is a 4 hr uphill beautiful hike filled with cows, greenery, rocks and lakes. One of National Geographics top hikes but dress accordingly and wear the right shoes and prepare to sweat in any temperatures and wear sunscreen. The hotel was situated impossibly on top of the cliffs overlooking the best views. The hotel offered two meal options (one vegetarian and one Swiss meal) and it was delicious. Breakfast consists of breads, jams, and coffee. We stayed in the dormitory and everyone was respectful of each other and the noise level (no college kids when we were here). There is no hot water or heater but big wool blankets and trough style sinks with cold water (dress appropriately). Climb up to the helicopter pad to enjoy the best views. The hike from Faulhorn to First has the most incredible sights of lake Bachsee and is all downhill. Overall a great experience that is worth the challenging hike!

From the First gondola to this incredible view, and on to Shynige Platte, this is WHY you come to the Alps. The hike is one of the longest in the Jungfrau region, at just over 6 hours one way, but is breathtaking, majestic and eventful in a good way. From lakes to spanning plateaus, there's much to see along this trek. Bring cash - more than you think you'll need, to eat at the Faulhorn restaurant. They fly supplies up by helicopter 2x weekly and run the oldest mountaintop hotel in Europe... Well with the cost. Besides, everything seems better at nearly three thousand meters!

Not the most stunning peak to look at, given all the peaks around but as a viewpoint it is fantastic and is the highest point on probably the most scenic walk in Europe, between First and Schynige Platte. This is not a walk to be taken lightly as it is 15km long at over 2000 metres altitude and could catch out the unwary or ill prepared. Be experienced to take this on but then just admire the scenery on the other side of the valley. From the Wetterhorn through the Schreckhorn, Fiescherhorn, Eiger, Monch, Jungfrau and even to the more distant Breithorn and Blumlisalp, you can only be in awe.

Truly beautiful hike: the trail takes about 6 hours and keeps changing along the way - from lush green, to rocks, to snow (leftovers at July), to high steep peaks, then finally to the lakes near First. Just amazing.

really nice hike where you go up with an old train, walk along a ridge with view over Brienzersee and once you are on the top of Faulhorn you have a good view
