“Fantastic views”
Reviewed 5 November 2013

I opted for the Schynige Platte to FIrst route which includes Mt Faulhorn.

It is an outstanding hike with wonderful views of both the Alps, including the big 3 mountains as well as the valley which includes Interlaken and Lakes Brienz and Thun. The hike is approximately 17kms but is well sign posted the enture way, even when there is moderate snow coverage as was the case when I completed the hike.

The view from Faulhorn is amazing with interrupted views of Jungfrau, Eiger and Monk and the peace and quiet is worth all the effort.

You also have the bonus of Bachalpsee Lake which is a short hike down from Faulhorn towards First.

Well worth the effort to get to, just be sure to check on weather and snow conditions if you are hiking in the cooler months.

“One of the outstanding ridge walks of the Alps”
Reviewed 25 August 2013

nThe path from Schynige Platte to Faulhorn the Faulhornwag is one of the outstanding ridge walks of the Alps. My only bit of advice, don't drink the coffee if it is shipped in by helicopter.

“Sit and Enjoy the View!”
Reviewed 11 August 2013

We hiked from Schynige Platte to First and stopped at the Faulhorn Hut for lunch. We took the steeper route up and the gentler route down because that was the direction we were travelling. If you are reasonably fit you won't have any problem with either route. I managed to snag a table right at the railing. What a view! I had a cheese sandwich (nothing amazing there) and a glass of wine. I have to say that I love the Swiss for allowing me to enjoy a glass of wine with an amazing view, mid-hike on a beautiful summer day. It was fantastic and well worth the walk (and the price for the wine which has to be brought in by helicopter along with all the other goodies up there). We basked in the sun and drank in the scenery before carrying on to First. It's worth the walk.

“Excellent views in all directions”
Reviewed 1 August 2013

From First via the Bachsee walk, carry on up the pass and turn right to the Faulhorn, reputedly one of thre oldest hotels in Switzerland, pereched on the top. The effort is well rewarded with stunning views to the north and the Brienzersee, with a panorama of mountain views in all other directions including the Eiger, Wetterhorn, Shilthorn etc. Preferred shorter return via Bussalp or back to First.
