“A useful station”
Reviewed 30 June 2013

Not an exciting place but a good end/start for a walk. There is a frequent train service but not much else

“Great toboggan run down to Brandegg”
Reviewed 20 January 2013

You can toboggan from Kleine Scheidegg to Alpiglen but the best run is from Alpiglen to Brandegg. You have a choice of routes - steep or easy

“Sledging Runs”
Reviewed 29 December 2012

The sledging runs at Alpiglen were top notch. Nothing like the sled runs back in Australia, they were dangerous in how fun they were. The "Eiger run" as it's called was heaps of fun, not for the faint hearted or for someone with hip, knee or back problems. For teens and kids it's great fun, and you can get an unlimited sled pass for 42 CHF including the train transfer.

“Good pub/hotel”
Reviewed 5 December 2012

We stopped here on our walk from Mannlichenn to Kliene Schildegg to Grindelwalk.
Nice views, cow bells and dung.
But great spot and if you are tied from walk there is a station 100m away for train tov Grindelwald. But be warned , about $80.00 for two , for a6 min train ride down (part of Jungfrau rail)

“Wonderful Eiger Trail”
Reviewed 17 October 2012

It's a pity that this trail hasn't been registered yet in Tripadvisor so I need to share my experience under the title of Alpiglen (which is the trail's end point - or start point). This trail takes you along 3-4 Km between the heights 2320m and 1615m. If you start at Eigergletscher station (height 2320) then the formal time duration is 2 hours. If you start in Alpiglen Station (at 1615m) then the formal time is just under 3 hours. But if you want to meet this schedule, you are probably going to miss most of the fun. Because there is so much to see and enjoy that you should allow the better part of the day for this trail, no matter where you start. We disembarked the train at Eigergletscer station and went down west to approach the western part of the glacier sliding from the Eiger. Then we went little up along the rails and had a close look at the tunnel entrance where the train disappears on its way up to Jungfraujoch. Follow the signs to the Eiger trail down the train path. It's spectacular! As you start your descent, flora becomes more and more dense. Water streams are running down from the Eiger, and the north wall is always close and intimidating. After a while, it is possible to spot the windows of the Eigerwand Train station at 2865m (see photos). towards the last third of the trail, the descent becomes really steep. Use good sturdy walking boots rather than sneakers. It took us almost 5 hours to reach Alpiglen, tired and exhausted, but worth every step.
