This hotel is an absolute gem! Recently renovated, the rooms and facilities are spotless and the Spa is wonderful. I stayed two nights September 13 and 14. From the time I was checked in by Isabelle, the wonderful desk clerk, until the moment I left, I felt very much at home in extremely comfortable surroundings. The breakfasts and evening meals were very good and the wait staff went out of their way to ensure I had a great dining experience. I paid 166 Swiss Francs per night including breakfast. Not cheap but this is a tourist town and you pay for the pleasure of being there.I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again if I went back. The best hotel of my European trip in 2012.

Room Tip: I stayed in Room 130 which had a balcony and a view of the Eiger.

We were here in August 2012 during the massive heatwave. We had a garden view room without afternoon sun so the room stayed cool during the day. There is no air conditioning but it's possibly not needed except for during a record heatwave. This place was LOVELY. Most of their business is from repeat customers for good reason.

We had a half board room including 2 meals for under $400/night. The breakfast buffet wasn't fantastic but it was good enough and convenient, dinner was also good but nothing to rave about; the views from the patio of Mt Eiger were spectacular and the service was excellent.

The hotel is walkable from anything you need - the gondola to FIRST, public transportation, bike rentals, shopping. The owner is very high profile and quite a character. In his youth he was a climber and told stories about Eiger. The place is so clean, well appointed and zen - decor heavily used wood, water, stone, artwork, beautiful floral arrangements - you might want to just stay and relax on the patio and by the pool like we did one of our days.

Highly recommend!

Room Tip: Our room was VERY clean and the bed was comfortable! I bet all rooms are similar.

Our first time time to Grindelwald. We enjoyed the hotel. Comfortable, clean rooms, a little pricey for what it was but overall loved it. Staff was very friendly. The colorfully dressed owner was very helpful when it came to recommending hikes and even raced us to the train station in a van when we were running a few minutes late. We enjoyed the breakfast; fresh eggs, bread, cheese, bacon, yogurt, fruit and everything else you could want.

Oh and forgot to mention, the location and view are AMAZING!

Enjoy

My Wife and I had the extreme pleasure of staying in this hotel over our European vacation which included stops in Bolzano, Innsbruck, Zurich, Geneva, Grenoble and Turin. Personally I feel this was a real highlight of the trip. First off the Grindelwald region is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen, if you plan to visit make sure to save some time to visit First and Jungfraujoch Train Station. You can't go wrong stating at Parkhotel Schoenegg, the staff is incredibly competent and friendly, the hotel is beautiful, and the service is second to none. My only suggestion would be to make sure that you call ahead to set up alternative meals for people with dietary restrictions. The food is delicious but you have to a taste for continental Germanic food which can have a lot of pork. I'm sure if we called ahead the staff would have set something up, they really went the extra mile on everything. This is the perfect place to stay in Grindelwald.

Room Tip: There is the main wing of the hotel which is more modern and the chalet which is completely remodele...

We stayed just the one night, however, the staff went out of their way to make us feel really welcome as a family. Very efficient and friendly booking over the email and phone - thanks Isabelle. Generously sized family 2 bedroom accommodation in the old chalet part of the hotel, with big balcony and amazing mountain views. Absolutely charming restaurant staff, who were so sweet with our children and made it possible for us to have the 6 course evening meal half board option as a family. We are glad we did, as it was very good value. Very nice breakfast buffet. The swimming pool/sauna/hot tub facility is super. There is a big playroom in the basement of the hotel, with lots of toys and lego which both our children really enjoyed.
Centrally located to walk to the First Gondola etc. We loved our first trip to Grindlewald and will definitely return and hope to stay at the Parkhotel Schoenegg next time.

We booked on the basis of excellentTrip Advisor reviews but even then the hotel exceeded our expectations. This family-run hotel is comfortably furnished, spotlessly clean throughout and beautifully decorated, with a spacious lounge and dining room and a delightful terrace with stunning views of the Eiger and Wetterhorn. Our family suite with balcony was spacious, modern and comfortable with all the necessary storage space. The hospitality of Herr Stettler and all his staff - reception, room cleaning and restaurant - was warm and generous without exception. Always helpful and ensuring all was well, nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was also generous and especially delicious when enjoyed on the delightful terrace at breakfast and dinner. The pool and adjacent outdoor sun terrace are amazing - also immaculately clean with wonderful views. The ultimate place to relax! Hotel Schoenegg is a very special place to stay in Grindelwald.

We had a lovely time at this hotel!! The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was really good and the view was amazing! We will go again and would recommend it to anyone! Amazing!
The rooms were clean and the view was stunning. The manager would make sure everyone was ok and was there if you needed help with anything. It is the only place we would stay in Grindelwald and can't wait to go again.
