My friends and I spent a delightful week recently hiking and staying in a small hotel in Grindelwald but had difficultly finding a good restaurant until we ambled by "Adelrstube" as nearby "Uncle Tom's Cabin" had a waiting line. The prices are no more than the average but the food and service are exceptional. There's dining under cover on the sidewalk or in the very pleasant wood paneled interior. It was so good that we came back a 2nd time! I can highly recommend the monkfish which tastes and is prepared to look much like lobster. The large prawns with asparagus (either as an appetizer or a main course) are also excellent; the shrimp have all their legs and shells removed unlike what is found in most European restaurants. To show how extensive the drink/alcohol offerings are, I was able to order a mojito and a bottle of Amarone! The mostly male waitstaff are very friendly and helpful unlike the usual "attitude" often found in Swiss establishments.
