“Just perfect!”
Reviewed 2 February 2013

In 6 weeks of traveling around france and switzerland we have never been so impressed by a hotel that we've felt compelled to write a tripadvisor review. That is, before we spent two nights in hotel gletschergarten. The hotel owners here went above and beyond to provide outstanding service and make us feel welcome and comfortable throughout our stay. In 6 weeks we have never felt so at home! The standard rooms were immaculate and of decent size with a great view, the breakfast buffet was ample, and the hotel restaurant was a perfect option after a long day out (and at 40CHF for a delicious traditional swiss four course meal, it proved great value also). Our only regret is that we were unable to stay longer. We look forward to recommending this hotel to everyone we know back home in australia!

We stayed as part of a group over Christmas. We arrived in the evening and were made to feel very welcome. Our room was bigger than we were expecting, and had a lovely sitting area attached. The bed was very comfortable, and we had a lovely view from our window, and the attached balcony. The dining and lounge areas were comfortable and spotless, and it was relaxing to sit in front of the fire in the lounge after dinner.
What can i say about Gabriella, Gary, Gabriella's mother and the boys? Nothing was too much trouble, they were so friendly and very committed to doing everything they possibly could to make their guests' stay as comfortable as possible. On Christmas Eve while we were having dinner, Santa appeared out of the snow and distributed gifts to all of the guests. Magic.
The hotel is well located, with a bus stopping outside, or an easy walk into the main shopping area. Grindelwald is such a lovely village, and the Gletchergarten was the icing on the cake.

Room Tip: I think any room would have a fantastic view.

We stayed at Hotel Gletschergarten over Christmas and New Year. This is a very special place! We cannot say anything negative about our stay there. It is a family run business so all members of the family are involved in your stay, making it very comfortable, easy and so enjoyable. Christmas and New year had extra special meals and events making it unforgettable. The food is excellent, being able to choose which courses you would like, or the whole menu. Otherwise there are restaurants in the village for variety. Nothing is too much trouble for this family, they assist with everything! When travelling to Switzerland again, we will definitely stay there again. It was a highlight! I would really like to see this hotel in Summer as the flower boxes are spectacular. It is on the main street but away from the village noise. The bus stop is vey close by, so carrying ski gear was easy.

Room Tip: South facing toward the Eiger is beautiful. The hotel will always try to put you in their best room.

Did you ever go to a restaurant and see the owner go table to table to see how your dinner was? Do you remember the comfort of going to your Grandmother's house and sleeping in her spotless guest room with crisp sheets, clean towels and all the comforts of home? Gabriella and Gary are much younger than we, yet we feel so comfortable in their care for a few days. Having our own business, we realize the 24/7/365 nature of it, and they do it with pleasure, style and grace; lovely people, so much so that there are many restaurants to choose in town, but we want to dine with them as instant loyalty to their hospitality. And besides the food is delicious and the service is great. And the dinnerware is Grandma's too!

Room Tip: We are in 31 and love it!

the hotel is run by the family and they are really friendly and helpful. The room were we stayed had a very nice view over the "shared" balcony, we used the sauna and steam bad and liked that we were the only ones in the relaxation place, so it was nice to warm up after a whole day skiing... we were having half-board and also liked the dinner very much, simple food but really tasty, and they have a very nice wine selection with really affordable prices! I would recommend it! it's a very good value for money..

Our group ranged from grandparents to grandchildren and we all enjoyed a relaxing and comfortable stay with excellent food. Our hosts were well informed and helpful and were most accommodating to our wishes---they really made us feel like part of their family. Totally recommended.

My partner and I spent the first week of the new year here and I couldn't imagine any better place to have a perfectly relaxing holiday. Gary and Gabriella are amazing hosts, always helpful and they even picked us up from the train station. They and the hotel staff created a warm, welcoming and cosy atmosphere. The room was really clean, lovely and spacious, a real cute nest after a day of skiing. The food was brilliant including the breakfast too.
The best hotel I've ever stayed in with the views of the village, mountains and especially we were fascinated by the Eiger.
Wonderful experience, strongly recommend to anyone!

Room Tip: Corner rooms have amazing view of the mountains (Eiger too).
