I cannot praise this hotel enough. Everything was perfect. The view from the balcony in my room was PHENOMENAL. Gabriela was so kind too--the ride to the train station was greatly appreciated. Very quiet and clean hotel. Comfortable bed. Hoping to go back one day!

Gary and Gabby are the warmest, most helpful, and hospitable people you could ever hope to encounter while traveling in a foreign country. They are patient and lovely and tireless. They picked us up and dropped us off at the train station, helped us purchase tickets to nearby attractions, and advised us on hikes and transportation in the area. The very best meals are those served at Hotel Gletchergarten. This family is the fourth generation to run this fine establishment and their French Chef has been with the hotel for 30 years. The dinners are the very best we had in Europe - and we visited four countries! The scenery and hikes are amazing and it is very comfortable to return each day to home in Gridelwald - Hotel Gletchergarten. We definitely want to make it back some day.

The staff at Gletschergarten were great. Hospitality could not be better. Love a family owned (many generations) business because of the pride and truely well kept facilities. From our greeting to the warm farwell by Gabriela and Gerhard to the friendly service at meal time, we could not ask for more. The view was spectacular, quiet and well positioned to downtown and the train station. The atmosphere generates an open conversation with everyone there. I would highly recommend Hotel Gletschergarden to anyone. Want to come back again and again.

Everyone here, Gabriela & Gerhard (the owners), and guests are in such a relaxed, good mood that it can't help but rub off on even the most jaded travellers leaving you upon departure feeling like you have had a wonderful vacation in the company of all sorts of new friends. Starting from the moment I arrived when after a long train journey Gabriela suggested I hang out on the comfy sofas on the front porch gazing at the snow covered mountains and watching the world go by sipping my Coke, to the buzzy conversations with fellow travellers at meals about where you'd gone that day, where you were going tomorrow, to the amazing local meals and Gerhard's advice it was all fantastic. I was travelling on my own and grateful that they could fit me into a small single room in a building across the street at a reduced price, with a brilliant view. I am usually a fairly independent traveller who doesn't hang out with the other tourists, but this place was an exception as all the people I met there felt like, as I say, new-found friends; I kept running into them in town and on hikes and we'd share advice and experiences, which was nice. I'll be back.

Room Tip: The rooms in the building across the street on the back side face the local bakery which gets moving...

Nothing like a family owned business that makes you feel at home. Their service was impeccable, the hospitality amazing, their food was out of this world. When traveling so far from home, they made the me feel so welcome, as part of their extended family. I look forward to returning.

Five glorious nights, incredible hikes right outside the door, phenomenal and fresh four course dinners varied nightly and accommodating to vegetarians, LGBT friendly and welcoming, and absolutely first rate professional attention and assistance! For example, a cold rain drenched us hiking up to an Alpine Lake on our first day, and on our return, Gabriella fired up the sauna out of season for us to warm our tired bones up before dinner. Cozy, old world, swiss chalet feel, with perfect hospitality. Many of the guests were return visitors, and I can see why - we will certainly be back again!

Room Tip: Pay the extra for the larger rooms with views of the Eiger smack outside your balcony!

We spent two nights in Grindewald w/ our children and all of us really enjoyed this charming, family run hotel. Rooms are small and not exactly luxurious, but everything works, the rooms are super clean and the family that runs the hotel are super welcoming. In fact, we were originally scheduled to spend 3 nights and had to cancel our first night at last minute and thus had to pay for our two rooms. When we arrived, the owner graciously offered to not charge us if we dined at the hotel one night. We did, food was great. Try scooter down mountain, really fun!
