We arrived late at this hotel and although the kitchen had just closed they produced us a meal. They helped us with a number of queries and were most attentive and friendly throughout. This is a family-run hotel, and proud of it. They gave us lifts into and out of town. They apologised for what they considered the small size of the room but we were fine with it and it had the bonus of a stunning view of the western aspect of the Eiger in the morning. Recommended without hesitation or qualification. PS If you need tickets for the train to Kleine Scheidegg and beyond the hotel will sell them to you, saving you any queues (lines) at the station.

Room Tip: Ask about the view and they will help you choose. We were on the second floor and there is a lift b...

You can feel that family who runs this hotel put heart into their work. I never felt more welcome in any place before. I could write a lot of good things, but you should visit this hotel and explore its treasures on your own. And by the way, in case you've read White Spider, you should know that this hotel was where Heinrich Herrer stayed every time he visited Grindelwald.

We had a wonderful 8 days skiing in Grindelwald, staying for a week in the apartment and last day in the hotel. The family could not have done more for us, nothing was to be too much trouble.
The apartment was small and simple but clean and comfortable with a decent balcony with beautiful views of the mountains. Over the road is a bakery to buy fresh breakfast goods every morning and if you don’t feel like doing that you can have breakfast in the hotel.
We had dinner a couple of nights in the hotel and the food was of a good quality. Don’t expect a menu, Gabriela will tell you what she has and you choose and if you don’t fancy that she will think of something else that can be made.
The rooms are comfortable if a bit dated but clean and had everything we needed although the bed, for me (6ft 3in), was a bit short.
All in all highly recommended for a comfortable, friendly stay.

This was our second vista to this delightful hotel. Last time was in the late spring but this visit was during the ski season. Sometimes returning somewhere you really enjoyed before can lead to disappointment but this was not the case here. Gabriela and Gerhard and their charming son Lars were just as welcoming and as friendly and helpful as ever despite the hotel being very busy. It is so unique these days to find a hotel that has been in the same family for more than a century and indeed 3 generations of the family were represented while we were there - all being well it will remain in the family for many more years to come. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff in the restaurant are charming and efficient. The food was excellent.
From the skiing perspective it couldn't be better, the free buses stop right outside the door, hire equipment can be delivered and collected from the hotel and ski passes purchased at reception. The buses are frequent and can drop you either at the Gondola stations or train station for the trip up to Kleine Scheidegg. We would happily return to Grindelwald in both summer and winter and would always stay at the Gletschergarten.

Room Tip: All rooms have lovely views and this end of town is very quiet.

Charming old wooden house, with great heritage and pleasant atmosphere. Close to village centre (10 min walk) and ski lifts (15 min to Männlichen cable car by bus) , First is almost around the corner and You can ski back to the point 200 m away from the hotel). Friendly and helpful owners are making Your stay comfortable. Flexible dinner arrangement (1/2 portions for the kid etc). Some minor refurbishment would be nice (curtain fell off by itself) and there was lack of hot water during peak time. All in all, mathed the expectations - me and my son had a great ski week in Jungfrau area. Hope to return soon.

Wonderful hotel - fantastic hospitality - excellent rooms - very clean - top class food. Location best in town.
The family owned hotel has a wonderful atmosphere. From pick up at the Grindelwald Bahnhof and till the return, the hotel owners and their family extend a courtesey, which is something worth experiencing. Unsual. Yoy get a feeling, that you are really a welcome guest. Looking forward to return - summer or winter - or both..

Room Tip: South side have a panoramic view of the mountains
