My wife and I recently had a very enjoyable stay at the Hotel Wolter. As mentioned by previous reviewers, it is perfectly located. We had a large room overlooking the Eiger mountain. The room had a large balcony from which we had a great view of the Wetterhorn as well as the Eiger.

Some reviews have mentioned a couple of cranes obstructing the view. When we were there (mid January) there was only one crane and it was not visible from our room. It was only when we walked out onto the balcony that we could see it. Even then, it was positioned between the two mountains and did not obstruct our view of either.

When we return to Grindelwald we will definitely stay at the Wolter, but we will wait until all the construction, which has spoilt the look of the village, has been completed.

The Hotel Wolter is the ideal place to stay in Grindelwald for skiing, the location is perfect. The bus station is just across the road to catch the ski bus and the train station is a minute or two away.

When you've finished skiing the heated terrace is the best place to sit with a cold beer and watch the world go by.

The rooms are clean, bright and comfortable; Many have balconies with views over the mountains.

Everything about the Wolter is great, I love it.

This hotel is conveniently located right next to the train station, so its easy to get around the mountain. We stayed in apartment 11 for three nights. The apartment was more than enough space for two people. The room was spotlessly clean and equipped with modern amenities. Staying on the top floor the vaulted ceilings and heated bathroom floors made the room nice and cosy. Equipped with a full kitchen, we used our stove quite a bit. To cope with the outrageous food prices in Switzerland, we went grocery shopping and cooked the majority of our meals and ate them on our balcony. The view from our balcony was absolutely breathtaking. Make sure to request a room that faces the Alps. Breakfast was typical Swiss style with a variety of breads, cheeses, and yogurts. Hotel service for the young staff was prompt and courteous. Included with the room is free breakfast, wifi, bus service around town, and access to the town's sports center and pool. In a country where everything hurts your wallet, I'm happy to report Central Hotel Wolter is an incredible value!

This hotel is just opposite the bus station of the village and a few steps from the rail station. Location-wise, this is very convenient. The rooms were spacious and clean. Ours had a balcony facing the mountains. The breakfast is very good. Wi-fi access was good. The elevator needs to be accessed through the restaurant if you want access from the ground floor.Overall, it is a good hotel. Prices are on the high side.

we stayed in the hotel for two nights in early september. i looked up hotels on tripadvisor on our train ride from interlaken, and this one had good ratings. we walked a very short distance from the train station and found it. for $200 CHF a night, we stayed in the additional building behind the main hotel. after traveling throughout france, italy, and switzerland, we were so impressed with the size of the room! we also had a nice kitchen though we didn't do any cooking. we had a lovely, large balcony overlooking the mountains. also, the breakfast buffet in the morning is outstanding! it was great to have delicious food included and be able to have a nice big breakfast and skip lunch later. the location is very central, and no issues at all while we were there. i would definitely recommend!

This is a relatively small, but very comfortable and friendly hotel, ideally situated only a minute's walk from the train station. Village bus stop is also just across the road, and our stay also included free access to the sports centre pool and ice skating. We were booked to stay here for 3 nights, however due to a medical emergency earlier in our trip, had to cancel at short notice. Staff could not have been more helpful in arranging for us to stay at later time which fitted into the very limited time available before our return to Australia. They offered us apartments for the first night, then the family room (which we'd originally booked) for the other two nights, transferring our luggage for us between the two. The apartments were very spacious although sleeping only two (one had a loft bedroom), and included a full kitchen and balcony. Crockery and cutlery were supplied, and cooking utensils were available from reception if required. The family rooms were smallish but comfortable, and also had a large balcony with lovely view. Furnishings in the room were typically Swiss, and beds were all very comfortable. The bathroom between the rooms was very functional, and boasted a full size bath(shower over) and toilet, with hand basins in each of the rooms - very handy when someone is occupying the bathroom.
Breakfast was included and was fresh and tasty, with a selection of hot and cold foods.
Service was excellent from booking through to departure, with very prompt and friendly responses to any enquiries. Couldn't ask for anything better and was a delightful totally stress free way to conclude our time away.

We just completed our stay in the Central Hotel Wolter. The location was central to the station and to Grindelwald. The breakfast was perfect with fresh bread, meat and cheese and the staff was very helpful.

We stayed in a top floor apartment. Be warned that the temperature was very warm and difficult to control. Also, it was unclear if someone was living in the apartment next to us, but the neighbors were very noisy at all hours of the night. The noise would not have been appropriate for young ears.
