“Quiet Alpine Splendor”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2014

We spent 5 nights at Hotel Bodmi and would recommend it highly to anyone who appreciates a quiet environment away from the tourist scene in the village. There's a convenient (super steep!) path from the First station straight up the hill to the hotel (located adjacent to the gondola line - which is ultra-quiet when it operates during the day as well). If you're in shape, exercise your calf muscles and walk up and down and forego the bus (free with the guest card you'll get - which also gives you terrific discounts on local rail lines). There are a multitude of walking paths from the hotel that lead up into the mountains and connect with the extensive trail system. We literally parked the car and never used it during the entire stay. As all the other reviews state, get the south facing room for an amazing picture-perfect view. Wi-fi was flawless if you must check your office email. We ate at the hotel restaurant twice and the food was comparable to other spots in town, both price- and quality-wise. We found the service staff to be extremely nice. The large bottle of in-room mineral water each day was also appreciated.

Room Tip: Definitely get a south-facing room

This is a lovely quiet hotel a little out of the town on a hillside overlooking the north face of the Eiger. The views from the south facing rooms are beautiful. There is a regular (every 30 minutes) free bus into town.
If you are looking for a quiet hotel with superb views the Bodmi has it all.
The spa is excellent and free. There is no lounge in the hotel for sitting. The food was very good, varied, well presented and plentiful.

This hotel is the perfect place to stay in Grindelwald.
Our welcome was so very friendly and helpful,
Our room was spacious and comfortable and sparklingly clean. We had very efficient wifi as well as a great variety of TV channels with good reception.
We ate twice in the restaurant in the evening and found the food to be delicious and well served.
As the hotel is relatively small there are no bus tours or large groups staying there!!
The hotel is quiet and at night it is silent, so sleeping is no problem.
A big thank you to Elizabeth and Kurt for making our stay so enjoyable.
PS i fail to see how any guest could write negatively about this hotel

this is my 21st year at the Hotel Bodmi, and in prior reviews I have commented extensively on all the usual things, great view, wonderful people, fine food. This year I want to focus on the dozen+ well-fed pampered goats that the owners Elisabeth Kaufman and Kurt Gisler raise with all the love and devotion of Peter and Heidi. She really grew up on what was once her grqndfather's farm. If you are looking for the legendary Switzerland of the past, surrounded by wildflowers, glaciers, and goats, this is the place. Heidi and Peter, my new names for the owners, (althoigh Kurt resembles George Clooney, and Elisabeth looks like the latest Disney wholesome teen rock star to replace Miley Cyrus), have created a unique marvel of Swiss engineering allowing the goats to roam the wide expanse of lands surrounding this classic Swiss chalet hotel, yet keeping people arms length from the goats. Keeping with swiss norms, the goats living area is spotless.

Room Tip: all rooms are good, all with big balconies, but the junior suites facing the glacier are especially...

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. The owners gave us a warm welcome. The rooms are spacious. Bathroom was very clean. They both had a balcony. Breakfast in the morning was full of local food. The restaurant serves good food and there is a lot of choice. Children are treated like real guests ! Restaurant is "alpine style" furnished. Staff is very friendly and helpfull. Even at low saison, everyone is spouling the guests.
I would certainly recommend this hotel : great staff, great stay, good kitchen.

My wife and I as well as my brother and his wife stayed there for only 1 night. One of the best hotels I have ever had the pleasure staying in. Everything was spot on and there is no way you can beat the breakfast. Should have stayed longer. Will be back.

This is a fantastic hotel. The Owners and staff were very warm and courteous, very child friendly. I stayed with my wife and three children (under 7 years old), the room was catered exactly to our needs. The service was great right from the start of the day breakfast to dinner. The food was very good with tasty traditional Swiss dishes. Our room amenities was maintained to a very high standard better than some 4 and 5 star hotels that we have stayed in. We had a balcony and wonderful view of the Wetterhorn and other mountains. Hotel Bodmi is ideally located a couple of minutes from the Childrens Ski School, with Ski/Snowboard hire on site. Other activities to keep both Adult and Children busy if you do not want to Ski. The Owners are very knowledgeable on all activities, transportation and must see places. We could not have asked for more and will certainly return again next year.

Room Tip: State clearly your needs during the enquiry process. Unlike the larger hotels, the Owners will alway...
