“No question one of the best”
Reviewed 16 December 2013

We stayed a weekend and enjoyed very much. We got only the suite being very expensive but with fantastic view. Breakfast is very rich and has everything you need. The staff is very friendly. The owner walks in the morning greeting the guests. The hotel restaurant for dinner is too complex. The only remark is the habit to put one soap and one shampoo for the whole suite and not even putting extra one the day later. You would expect more when you pay a fortune for a night..

Room Tip: Always choose a room with the Eiger view

My family and I stayed November 2013 for one night in one of the hotel's 3 bedroom apartments. The apartment was very clean and tidy with everything we needed. Our stay included a pass to the community pool which was just down the road and robes for use at the hotel's sauna. We had hoped to have dinner at the main restaurant, but they were having a Thai chef event and the place was booked out. That was a pity, but I have heard that the restaurant is very good as well. The location in Grindelwald is excellent for access to grocery shops and the train station.

My wife and I stayed at the Eiger Hotel for 4 nights in July 2013 during our visit to the area. We had a truly great time, thanks in no small part to the extremely friendly staff, led by Melanie Graf-Votteler. Melanie is an absolutely fabulous host and went out of her way at every opportunity to help us. We can't say enough nice things about Melanie and the rest of the staff.
We stayed in a room in the Appartment section of the hotel. It's attached to the main building and we had a spectacular view of the mountains from our balcony. The room itself was fairly large and well-equipped, though as others have commented, it could use some upgrades. I suspect the regular rooms are more modern. Still, we were very comfortable
We ate at the hotel restaurant (the one that is street-front) two of four evenings and the food was quite good. The service was generally good although on the second evening, it was excruciatingly slow and we ended up leaving before we got desert, after practically begging for the bill. But we think that was just a rare misstep and it certainly was no big deal.
All in all it's a very nice and charming spot, made special by the warmth of the staff (especially Melanie!) and you won't regret your visit here.

Room Tip: Get a south-facing room for the best views.

We stayed in one of the apartments at this hotel. It was a 2 bed with balcony. Great size, nice kitchen very well equipped. Balcony view of mountains. Nice big TV with UK freeview channels
which we weren't expecting and also we had wifi in the room which we also weren't expecting as the hotel info said free wifi only in hotel public areas. So very nice. Rooms were very clean and beds really comfortable with lovely pillows and bedding. Staff helpful and friendly, Melanie on front desk checked us in and she couldn't have been more welcoming. Good value and right in centre of Grindelwald so great location. Will stay again in the future. This area of Switzerland is amazing and look forward to visiting again.

It was our second visit to the hotel (our first being in 2006) and the staff sweetly remembered us. 2 weeks of perfect bliss in the hotel. We stayed in the studio apartment (which could do with a bit of an update), the room was immaculate and the beds were very comfy. Fabulous views of the Eiger!

The food in the various eateries within the hotel were brilliant. The Mongolian BBQ in Barry's restaurant was fab, slight delay in trying to get drinks but this was purely due to how busy the restaurant was and the girls were run off their feet.

Our favourite was the memory bar, there were some great deals on burgers and I loved the Rostis.

Free coffee and cake every day was a lovely treat and a nice way to unwind from a long day in the mountains.

Very central location and we would not stay anywhere else in Grindelwald and we can't wait to go back. Staff really make your holiday!

Room Tip: Ask for a room higher up to get best views.
