We chose the Alpenblick simply because it was the first hotel we encountered in Grindelwald as we came off the hiking trail exhausted. We got a room on the third floor that appeared to be brand-new. The room was large (for the area), very clean, and had a superior bathroom (one of the nicest we encountered in Switzerland). The price was OK (could have been better especially since we appeared to be the only ones staying at the hotel). Breakfast was OK (we had better) except for the flies everywhere. Good bar with a 2-for-1 deal one night for happy hour. Super-nice terrace and balcony (see cons though). The cons that keep the hotel from getting a better rating are the pasture next door (cow odor floating in the window at night), the price, the window which due to its position next to the easily-accessible balcony couldn't be kept open for security concerns, and the distance from town (quite a walk getting back).
