I absolutely loved this hotel. Small, family run, and the location perfect. Worth the extra $ to get a room with a view of the Eiger. Breathtaking!!
We were up and about before breakfast so they made us packed breakfast the night before. So fantastic!!

I stayed at the hotel courtesy of my sister for a long weekend hiking. The hotel was very easy to find, and centrally located with easy access to all parts of the town. It's probably a little noisy if you're facing towards the street in the high Winter season, but our room looked right across the valley at the Eiger North Face and the village was quiet as we came between seasons. It was a fantastic view from our bedroom window, hard to beat anywhere in Switzerland.

The hotel was comfortable, friendly, with a good breakfast and very helpful hosts. I always struggle with Swiss duvets (they're extra warm) but with an open window it was fine.

I would highly recommend this hotel for a stay in this beautiful village, particularly if you are going hiking because it is so centrally located. You can get to the start of any of the major routes out of the village within a few minutes walk or bus ride.

Room Tip: Room Tip: ask for one facing the Eiger

My sister and I just spent a long weekend in Grindelwald, and the Hotel Tschuggen was perfect accommodation. We had a twin-bedded room with a breathtaking view across the valley to the North Face of the Eiger and the lower glacier - wonderful to sit out on the balcony and drink it in. The shower was good and hot, the TV had a bewilderingly large range of channels (although the UK domestic channel signals were very hit and miss, hardly surprising), and the beds were very comfortable, with very warm duvets.

The hotel is easy to find, about 10 minutes walk up the main street from the station. Breakfast is excellent, and on the one morning we came down to find the breakfast room full we were called with big smiles and apologies about ten minutes later.

The owners of the Hotel Tschuggen are delightful, helpful and cheerful. They provided us with the electrical adapter that I had forgotten and put our luggage in a locked cupboard on our last morning while we went for a final stroll around the village.

We recommend the hotel without reservation; it's welcoming, comfortable, and very reasonably priced in a country where most things aren't!! They also give you a visitor's card that entitles you to free transport on the village buses (very useful for getting to the starting point of hikes!) and entrance to the sports centre swimming pool.

Just one thing - do make sure to ask for a room facing the mountains rather than the street, because although it was very quiet (mid-season) when we were there, when the village is busy (and Grindelwald can get VERY busy!) there would probably be some noise from traffic, bars and restaurants.

Room Tip: Take a room on the side facing away from the street - very quiet and a spectacular view!

We stayed here for 3 nights in March. It is family owned and the husband and wife compliment each other very well. We paid about $200/night and it was well worth it. On our last night , we had to check out at 6am and they made us sandwiches for the train trip from Grindewald to Zurich. They also hooked us up with coffee and OJ in the am. Switzerland is a great country and this place is a great value! We loved the views of the Junfrau and watching the paragliders land on the beautiful scenery.

Good room with a superb view. Nice staff and well suited for a B'nB Plus facility. Nicely decorated in Swiss Mt style, well located on the Main Street not too far from the train station and has great bus service. Take #11 from the train station. Leaves every 15 minutes.
Internet o.k., but could use a little boost in bandwidth and range.

We had a pleasant stay at Tschuggen hotel.

We stayed in a basic room with shared bathroom and it really was very basic. The mattresses were originally very poor and we spent a restless first night sleep. When we complained to the staff, they were really helpful about it and actually replaced the original spring mattresses with foam mattresses which were much better and finally afforded us some good sleep.

The breakfast is excellent and very generous. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is central and very easy to get around. 2 minutes walk to the station, 2 minutes to the cable car that takes you to First. There are several ski equipment rental places nearby. The guest card also gets you free entry to the swimming pool which was nice after a day of skiing.

Room Tip: Basic rooms with shared bathroom are very basic. Ours faced the street and did not have the nice sou...

I stayed here for 4 nights beginning of March, 2014, to ski. Location is right in the middle of the village, between the train station and the FirstBahn gondola, 5min walk either direction. SkiBus stop right out front though you don't really need it. I had a small single with its own bathroom and a nice balcony w/ view of the mountains. Owners are very nice and speak good english. Room was spotless. Breakfast very filling, good quality breads/cheeses/yogurt etc ... I was able to skip lunch. Room was surprisingly quiet. I had to checkout very early to catch a train and the owner was nice enough to make me a bagged lunch because I left before breakfast was served. Also got a free pass to the village sports facility, which had a nice pool/sauna. Skiing was AWESOME!!!! Only small quibble was the wifi was spotty and the only American TV channel was CNN. Room price was very reasonable given how expensive everything in Switzerland is.
