“We were charged a 30 CHF (25 EUR) cancellation fee”
Reviewed 6 June 2013

We booked our stay through Booking.com. It was stated that there was no cancellation fee. After completing the booking, we realized that we had been assigned a tiny room outside of the main hotel building. We read some really bad reviews about this room, so we decided to cancel two days after having booked. We have been charged 25 EUR as the cancellation fee, even when our arrival was on July 23rd, more than one month from today.
We have now read at least two people more who suffered the same situation, so it is not a coincidence, the hotel owners appear to have this carefully planned.

I gave this 5 stars instead of 4 based entirely on how great the staff have been and it more than makes up for the basic room that we had. Even though it was basic you still have everything at your fingertips so it never felt inadequate in any way. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and were always trying to help in any way they could. The two brunette girls and the short haired gentleman were absolutely fabulous and nothing was ever too much trouble, every morning at breakfast they would ask your plans and let you know what is going on in town and surrounds and considerering the weather where the best places to visit were. We never had a boring day thats for sure! The older blond haired lady was never so helpful and had a little chip on her shoulder.

The room was basic it was in the attic and lacked a fridge and aircon (but had radiator). There are 2 big windows that open out to a spectacular view so no aircon was never a problem. As for the fridge, they have a little lounge room downstairs with a microwave and fridge so again never a problem. They also have a free washing machine and drier which is VERY helpful!

The breakfast was simple but all that you need and as mentioned above always came with a smile. It was cereal, toast, croissants, yogurt, meats and DELICIOUS Swiss cheeses. It was all fresh. The staff mentioned due to government regulations they are prevented from serving anything more elaborate.

The location is fantastic, less than 5 mins to the train station and just a touch more to the main streets. Was VERY handy too!

The elevator is an attraction in itself!!! Yes the elevator - you will see when you stay here - don't want to spoil the surprise!

All in all we had a great time here and are very thankful to the excellent staff that were so welcoming and accommodating.

Will definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Because of the elevator get a room away from it. The 3rd floor is the highest the elevator goes so y...

It was my second time to stay in Susi's B&B. The location is great, just a few minutes walk from Interlaken West train station. Staff are very friendly and helpful. There is no elevator but the staff was very friendly to help us with the luggages. The room is spacious for two people, and very clean. Me and my friend are very happy about that. Sure we will stay there again. You can't ask for more with this budget.

Room Tip: discount for longer stay wifi & tv in the room

My husband and I stayed for four nights based on the postive reviews, relatively reasonable cost (151 CHF per night), and the location near the train station.
It is an easy 10-15 minute walk from the Interlaken West train station. Once exiting the station through the main entrance/exit, take a right turn onto the street and walk towards the large, brown building, this is Migros (grocery store). Take a left turn onto the street boardering Migros, (there is a round about) and walk another 5-10 minutes looking for the Hotel Lotschberg sign on the right side of the street. The B & B is behind the hotel.
The B & B is VERY basic, has a look of an outdated hostel, but is kept very clean. Room 28 was so tiny, there was NO room even on the floor to put either of our carry on luggage. There was a little enclosed "porch" with french doors (no view) containing a tiny bistro table and an upholstered chair. We used this area for our luggage. The bathroom was very clean but so tiny that my 6 foot 1 inch husband had trouble sitting on the toilet because his knees were jammed against the wall. There was no space for a shaving kit or toiletries, so we placed them on the bed when washing in the morning. I was glad I didn't have a weight problem when I used the shower. The bed was low, but VERY comfortable, and the small closet had a (broken) safe and two shelves. The window had fresh white lace curtains.
Breakfast was in the hotel breakfast room in a pleasant, well lit room with a wall of windows. There were boiled eggs, cold meats, cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, breads, cheese, juice and coffee/tea.
Also within the hotel was "Living Room" or a common room with coffee/tea available all day, shelves with extra clothes and shoes available to borrow, and a microwave and small refrigerator and a computer available for a nominal fee. The best amenity was the free washer and dryer! We were also given buss passes, so we could take any local bus for free, probably because many of the attractions are out of Interlaken Ost...it is a 5 min bus ride.
The staff was very helpful and friendly and were always working hard around the property.
I have to admit that I expected a bit more for the price, but when compared to other places, this was comparatively reasonable. The biggest positive was it was clean and staff were nice...the negative was it is not very attractive and space so limited, it was a bit uncomfortable to navigate.

About a quarter of an hours walk from the Station, this Bed and Breakfast was next to, and part of the Hotel Loetschberg. Considering it was Switzerland it was reasonably priced at 145 Swiss Francs per night for a double room (about £100 as of Oct 2012). The room was clean, the bed a reasonable size double (I am 6ft 5in and fitted in OK). There was a television which received a couple of American channels but only one British. It would be nice if it at least received BBC world news. There was a good sized wardrobe and a small table with chairs and an on-suite with a shower. Breakfast (included in the price) was taken in the hotel, it was a help yourself Buffet and you could eat as much as you liked. A seperate 'Chill out' lounge with a microwave, fridge and tea/coffee making facilities is provided (the tea and coffee is free) However be advised to take your own tea bags and get a small bottle of milk from the Supermarket, as they only supply herb tea. They ask that you to use the lounge for hot drinks as they prefer you not to eat or drink in your room.

There is a washing machine you can use for free and bicycles are availabe as well. They prefer you to pay in cash, I found that I could have paid by credit card but would have been charged 2% extra, I finished up paying part cash and part card. I found the staff to be quite friendly and helpful. One tip, If you are on a tight budget, as we were, take a small rucksack and a couple of small thermos flasks with you. That way you can make enough coffee (use your own, the coffee the B&B provide is for use in the Lounge only) to enjoy at least a couple of drinks whilst you are out. We took coffee, coffeemate and dried milk in separate freezer bags and found them very useful. There is a large Supermarket nearby where you can buy bread etc and make yourself up a few sandwiches for the day. You will also find it useful to take a tinopener, also buy a cheap knife from the Supermarket.
All in all I recommend this B&B, I would go there again.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for one with an on-suite

This B&B is perfectly located - next to the train station and supermarket. Pros: partial kitchen which you can use (so use the supermarket and warm up your food in the microwave or just a place where you can eat your dinner if your taking out), location (across the street from the train station so easy to get anywhere). Yes, the rooms are small and a bit outdated and the washroom was also tiny, but it did the job. Breakfast was okay - not too much selection but was good enough to start the day. Staff were friendly and accomodating as they provided us with a heater at night cuz it was a little chilly.

All in all - I would recommend this B&B!
