“Really nice!”
Reviewed 8 October 2013

Was looking for a room for quite a while around Interlaken and everything was full. Came upon the Hotel Weisses Kreuz and found it had a room and was decently priced for inside Interlaken. The room was big and clean with comfy beds. Staff were friendly and there was free wifi but only in the lobby or lounge room. Would stay here again!

We stayed at the hotel for three nights. We are a family of four (two older teenage children). We booked two twin/double rooms with bathrooms. Hotel was undergoing renovations but it didn't impede on our stay at all. Hotel is location in a central part of town within easy walking distance to Interlaken West even in heavy snow and dragging suitcases. Plenty of restaurants and supermarket close by. Hotel is older style. Staff were friendly and helpful. WiFi was only available in lounge area but it wasn't a busy time when we stayed so this was not a problem as we mainly had the lounge to ourselves. Rooms were large and clean with comfortable beds. Breakfast had hot/cold food and was plentiful. I would stay there again as it was a good priced hotel in an expensive town.

We stayed in Weisses Kreuz in August 2013 for two nights. Its what you would describe as a low price, low quality hotel. Rooms are OK, no fans
The staff at reception is ok, not so friendly. When I complained about hot water not coming, they simply said try to run to water for five minutes and when I said I have already tried that, they said I just have to wait till next morning because at that time the reception was closed
And indeed, the reception closes at 9 PM so one has to keep an extra key for the main door
Breakfast also quite ordinary with very little variety
The advantage of the place, however, is the good location, just a few hundred metres from the Interlaken West station and a few meters from the hotel is the open park where one can spend a good enjoyable evening in festive atmosphere

Rooms are very big. I dont know wether it was a standard room or a superior room. My travel agent has booked this. Since september is low season they meight have given a superior room. I stayed in room no 223. As said earlier rooms are very big with a big bathroom. Hotel dosent have an A/C. But who wants an A/C at a temperature of 8 degree outside. We didnt even put a fan. Check in was smooth and breakfast was very good.

All the hotels in interlaken will give you a guest card which will allow you a free travel in the city busses and a big discount on various sightseeings and shoppings.

We have used discount on Hrader kulm as it came half the price and also used it on a visit to Trummelbach falls. It takes 15 minute walk from interlaken OST station and just 5 minutes walk from interlaken west station. Most of the trains come to interlaken OST and you can take a bus which is at the exit of ost to the hotel.

Very friendly staff always with a smile. Helped us immediately for skydiving booking. Each room comes with a balcony with a decent view (partly mountains - partly street). Breakfast has limited choices and is average. However, that being said they do serve you fresh croissants. Very near to Interlaken West (walking distance 450 mts.). Has a pizza place on the ground floor of the hotel.

Negatives - no internet in the room, the TV has just 3 english channels out of which 2 are news channel and one is BBC World. No air circulation in the washroom. No air conditioner / fan in the room. Run down elevator with little safety (absence of the second door). Also for 225 CHF per night - I think its very expensive for the facilities they provide. I witnessed what happened when a couple walked in without reservations. They were quoted 225 CHF which was brought down to 200 CHF and then 180 CHF per night within a matter of 30 seconds. I guess it shows that the rooms are overpriced by at least 40-50 CHF per night.

We were booked in here by a travel agents, as part of a 2 week tour, as a base for visiting the local mountains- Jungfraujoch, Kleine Scheidegg, Schiedigge Platte etc, doing some walking and biking. In this respect, the hotel was ideally located. However, we were staying 5 nights and the weather was in the 30s.
The rooms, while spacious and clean, with comfy beds, have no air con and for some unknown reason, no blinds or shutters, just lightweight curtains. This meant the room was never properly dark, and was very light early in the morning. It was also difficult to sleep due to the heat. The other problem is the nature of the hotel as it seems to be used as a transit hotel. People were arriving very late and leaving early, meaning we were woken around 1.30 and again at 5 as people came and left. It was not the hotel's fault that guests chose to talk at the top of their voices despite the unsocial hours. With hindsight, we would have asked for a quieter location in a quieter place.
Breakfast was fine, if basic, but the coffee and selection of breads were excellent, as was the breakfast service.
Wifi is free but restricted to the reception area. The receptionist was happy to lend us an adapter for our room to charge phones etc as ours didn't fit the type of socket.
The hotel seems a little tired- it could do with a bit of a make over - but as I said, as most guests seemed to be staying for a short time, they probably didn't notice.

The staff at the hotel were really friendly, and the hotel was great. The staff got us a map and even showed us the way.
The hotel was at a great location, about a 2 minute walk from the train station. Around the hotel was a convenience store, McDonalds and many many souvenir shops. The hotel was about a 10 minute walk from the Interlaken Ost station, were you can buy tickets to Jungfraujoch.
The hotel itself was quite small, and to be honest I was a bit hesitant to step in the old rickety elevator, and the rooms were quite small. The beds were also small but comfy, so it was quite nice. My room had a spectacular view, and was very brightly lit. The bathroom was small but clean, complete with a bathtub.
The breakfasts did not have a huge variety, but it was enough. The lobby had wifi, and so did the restaurant. There was a pizza restaurant on the bottom, but we did not bother to go.
I really like this hotel since there is a really clever key system, since you have to get an outside key and lock your room key, and change it if you go in or go out.
The only thing I do that I do not like about this hotel is that the rooms are a little too small for a long stay, but perfect for a small one. The lobby was also not smoke free, so it was okay. The breakfast maybe could have a bit more food, but is was fine since it was a small hotel. I would give this hotel a 7.5/10
