One of the mos convient hotels in Interlaken for getting to and from local transport. Bus stop just outside. Rail station and Lake steamers on Lake Brienz 10 minutes stroll away. Always go for front rooms looking towards Jungfrau

Room Tip: A higher floor gives a better view , go for front room

Spent 3 nights in beautiful Interlaken. This is hotel thats is in need of a serious renovation. The bedroom I stayed in had a tube TV. I found the staff to be courteous and helpul. The breakfast buffet was well stocked and the wait service prompt. If I ever return to Interlaken, I would probably stay somewhere else. The train statio is 3 minutes away as well as many restaurants and shops. Make sure to take a walk behind the hotel along the stream.

Although it looks grand and attracts you at first sight , the 5 star rating which it enjoys is undeserved.
When i stayed there the room allotted to me was on props and they were so close to my bed that i banged my head at night.
There is no airconditioning and it being a heritage property i was told that they cannot install AC's. It being warm , i had to keep the windows open at night.
However the staff is helpful and smiling and the restaurant is good.

Room Tip: Best to stay in service apartments.

We spent 10 days here in late September and fell in love with this grand old-style hotel.Close to the Interlaken Ost rail station it is perfectly situated for the many side trips that can be enjoyed here.We had a front room on the fourth floor with a fine view of the Jungfrau to the south. The room was spacious and comfortable, the bathroom old fashioned but pleasant and functional.A fine breakfast buffet was enjoyed each morning. At nights we explored the many eating establishments along the Hohweg, some good, some pretty poor.Prices for everything were very high but that's Switzerland for you.Dont go there if your looking for a bargain-priced vacation!! One comment that I will add is that some of the carpeting and furniture were frayed and worn looking but apparently the hotel is going to be doing a big overhaul in the near future.Would I stay there again? You bet your life I would.4 1/2 stars overall.

Room Tip: Get one of the rooms on the south facing side.

I was really looking forward to stay in this hotel as I love this classic grand hotel ambiance What I found behind this overall wonderful facade did really disappoint me. The hotel room (at least the one I had) desperately needs renovation. Furniture is totally over aged including an almost antique TV. Amenities in bathroom are similar to every basic 3 star hotel. Carpet and wallpaper are fade and full of watermarks... Size of the room was reasonable but everything else was old and shabby. Never ever 5 star level.... Why can they mention themselves 5* grand hotel? Because they fulfil certain criteria’s? I was there for a conference and had the advantage of a special rate but when I watched the rack rate of the room inside the closet I was shocked. Almost CHF 600.- per night..... Never ever worth it. Sorry.
What annoys me that there is an additional charge for WLAN in the room. Nowadays it really is included in a lot of hotels. Only in the lobby was free WLAN but if you have to concentrate and finish some work this is not a good option. Quality of WLAN reception in the room was very poor, which is even more disappointing if you have to pay (a lot) for it.

The breakfast was average on level of service. Choice they offered was OK. What I liked is that you could order a la carte any kind of eggs which are made a la minute and without having to pay a supplement. The service however was poor. If you arrived in the restaurant, nobody is there to welcome you and get you seated, which for a grand hotel 5 star level I expect. Instead you stand there a little lost and look for an available table and help yourself. It really was hard to get the attention from the service staff to bring me a coffee. Setting up tables and consequently watching in other directions then the guests seemed to be easier.

The only thing really good and definitely top level was the crew at the reception and the maids on the floors, very attentive and helpful. Also the lobby as such and the terrace/patio in front of the hotel are lovely and well maintained.
Overall impression a basic 4 star hotel maybe but no way a 5 star grand hotel! I know you can do better...

Nicest hotel of our European stay, fabulous room, grounds and service. Fantastic spa and pool, a delight for the traveler. Great bathroom and appointments. From the Interlaken train station, look for the no. 2 metro to Ouichy and then left for a 7 minute walk to the Hotel that is marked. Not a lot to do in Interlaken, but this Hotel is certainly worth visiting for a perfect combination of R&R.

i stayed at this hotel along with wife in May 2008. This hotel has the best location in Interlaken when one is travelling via railway. The hotel can be reached by taking a 5 minutes stroll from the railway station and is located on the right side of the road.
I had a pleasant stay a this hotel and the hotel staff were very polite and considerate. The breakfast is great and offers lots of choices with smiling staff reading to serve.
The only drawback i noticed were that there weren't any swipe cards given to me. One had to carry a large room key which become inconvenient.
The size of the room was considerably large. At the time of the my stay i noticed that the hotel was undergoing repairs. The bathroom attached to our room was quite antiquated and needed a major renovation.
Overall this is the most convenient hotel for exploring Interlaken. The railway junction is very close which is a major advantages for those wishing to explore Luaterbrunnen (Trummelback Falls) and Jungfraujoch top of Europe Railway excursion which are worth visting.
The center of the town are located at a waking distance of 10 minutes.
I would recommend this hotel for tourist seeking to explore Interlaken.
