“Regal, yet homely”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 November 2011

One of the first things that strike you about this hotel is its beautiful façade. Regal with a touch of an era gone by, Lindner Beau Rivage stands majestically by the River Aare and is a 10-min walk from the Interlaken OST (East) station, making it convenient for travelers.
We reached too early to check-in and freshened up in the beautiful old-world toilets in the lobby of the hotel before setting out to check the place.

While our room had a great view of the river, sometimes you can hear the trains going by, making it quite a contrasting experience. However, the sound wasn’t very loud or disturbing. This also depends on which way your room is facing. From our room you could see the Harder Klum funicular station. Harder Klum is Interlaken’s little mountain and is an eight-minute ride from the station. It offers spectacular view and is a popular tourist spot. The hotel is a three-minute walk to the station and is located in the midst of a lot of tourist haven shops and restaurants. There is even a chemist close by. Considering the hotel is in the hub of the activities, it is surprisingly calm and relaxing.

The breakfast options were quite elaborate and true to its five-star nature. A big downer though was the flies that flocked the eating area. That was probably the only flip side of our experience. The staff in general was very friendly and helpful. The housekeeping staff would leave biscuits on our pillows every night. The reception staff was very friendly and helpful. Though not mentioned, we were given a free drop to the station on the day of our departure.
Don’t miss the Victorinox / Wenger shop close by, owned by a friendly man with a lot of interesting stories on the brand. There’s also a great cheese and wine store nearby which has a great selection of cheeses they pack for you to take back home. There is something very homely about the entire experience of staying at the hotel and the feel of the place around it. Yet it is a striking property that comes at a surprisingly economical cost. Don’t look anywhere else, this hotel is your best bet.

I was attending a conference in Interlaken and this hotel is ideally situated for the train station, conference centre and town centre. I had arrived too early to go directly to my room, so I left my luggage there and it was in my room when i came back in the evening. The staff was very friendly and I was greeted by name when returning from the lectures to collect my key. The room was very nice with a little balcony facing the alps. The funiture in the single room was a bit dated as well as the TV. There was no luggage rack, so I had to use the coffee table for my suitcase. The hotel has a wonderful spa and indoor swimming pool, so each guest has a bathrobe and slippers in the room.
The breakfast buffet was wonderful. There really was everything available: fruits, yoghurt, various breads, eggs, bacon....I can't even remember everything as I concentrated on the fruit.
All in all, this was a relaxing stay and I would certainly reccomend the hotel.

Stayed at this hotel for a day at interlaken. The hotel packed an old world charm to it. The building looks grand and beautiful. Rooms are huge and clean. The hotel is located very near to the casino at interlaken. Beds are comfortable too. Hotel reception staff are friendly and helpful. Hotel is within walking distance from the main shopping area.

As for the breakfast, I would say that it's the best I had in Europe. With bacon, sausages, ham and very nicely done scrambled eggs. Great variety on the buffet spread.

The Beau Rivage is a large, posh, historical hotel in a great location in Interlaken -- a few minutes' walk from the train station, and steps from the center of town. We had a lovely room in the front of the hotel with a balcony -- overlooking the Alps. Fantastic view!!! The balcony had a table and chairs - and a gorgeous view of the mountains. Overall, the room was updated and spacious with a sofa and a flat screen TV. Bathrobes & slippers were provided, too! The bathroom was updated, but not modern. The front desk staff was very helpful and sincerely friendly. They offered a few excellent, local restaurant suggestions "off the beaten path" and not "too" touristy. This hotel is definitely worth the splurge, because the it really has an upscale feel. They also have a large bar and a spa (and meeting rooms as well). It is not perfect, however. The only part of our stay that we weren't thrilled with was the breakfast situation, which was really disappointing. The food was fine, but the breakfast room was very crowded and appeared to be understaffed. For example, when we arrived at breakfast each day, most of the tables were not cleaned from the previous diners, so we had to flag down a staff member, and then someone reluctantly cleaned our table. One point, when we left our table to go to the buffet, another couple walked in and sat at the table we were just given (an honest mistake, but it was the last cleaned table and the staff did not ask them to move to another table.) During our stay, there were quite a few large families with kids having breakfast -- and the children were seriously running wild around the restaurant and the buffet table, but no one said anything (not the parents or the staff). I would recommend going to breakfast as early as you can.....Anyway, if they improve the staff situation at breakfast, this would be a much better review!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony!

Spent a long weekend break in Interlaken for the third year! This was my 2nd stay at the Grand Beau Rivage and it was as fabulous as the time before. Interlaken is a fantastic central travel point for seeing and getting to all the local tourist areas. We went to the Top of Europe Jungfraujoch, which was an amazing experience. I cannot praise Switzerland enough, the people, the scenery, the hotel, the transport links - for anyone who appreciates clean fresh air and breathtaking views I urge you to visit this beautiful place!

Room Tip: Ask for floor 4 or 5 at the front of the Hotel to see the stunning view of the mountains and the tow...

One of the mos convient hotels in Interlaken for getting to and from local transport. Bus stop just outside. Rail station and Lake steamers on Lake Brienz 10 minutes stroll away. Always go for front rooms looking towards Jungfrau

Room Tip: A higher floor gives a better view , go for front room

Spent 3 nights in beautiful Interlaken. This is hotel thats is in need of a serious renovation. The bedroom I stayed in had a tube TV. I found the staff to be courteous and helpul. The breakfast buffet was well stocked and the wait service prompt. If I ever return to Interlaken, I would probably stay somewhere else. The train statio is 3 minutes away as well as many restaurants and shops. Make sure to take a walk behind the hotel along the stream.
