“Wonderful stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2012

Wonderful hotel in a picture perfect location, great breakfast. It was hot during our stay, though, and they didn't have air conditioning. That was the only downside.

Stayed overnight on 14th April. The welcome from the staff was wonderful and we were made to feel at home in minutes. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were very well-appointed and comfortable. We had a front-facing double and, had it not been for the clouds, the views would have been spectacular! We brought a bottle of wine with us, but no corkscrew! Not only did the hotel provide one, but they also sent up 2 glasses. On leaving we were supplied with a bottle of water each. Cannot be faulted!

We came here on honeymoon and we returned for our silver wedding anniversary. What's changed? Apart from the beautifully modernised facilities-nothing. The amazing views, the friendly welcome, the efficient service, the excellent food, the sheer pleasure of being here are just as they were before. Congratulations--in a changing world you've only changed the things that need to change and not the things that matter most.

Myself and a friend stayed at Hotel Eiger for a week at the start of March.

We got a very late deal and were accommodated on the 1st floor at the rear of the hotel. The room was excellent with plenty of space and a large bathroom with a nice, powerful shower. The view from our room won't win any awards as it was facing a big pile of snow (as we were on a ski holiday we couldn't really complain) but i'd recommend asking for a room at the front of the hotel as the views here are spectacular.

Food was excellent here also. Silver service most nights and a very good selection of meals.

The swimming area/ sauna was a real joy and very well received after a hard day on the slopes. Naked saunas seemed popular but you can go in clothed if you want.

The main point to make, as it seems every other reviewer has mentioned, are how incredibly friendly/helpful/fun the staff are. All of them were extremely sociable and would all go out of their way to help.

Murren hasn't got a particularly huge night life so we ended up drinking in the fantastic Eiger bar most nights, sitting on the prime bar seats and enjoying banter with the various bar staff.

The snow was unbelievable here too. Coupling this with the Hotel experience made it one of the best holidays i've ever been on. Can't recommend it enough!

Room Tip: Ask to be at the front of the hotel for the best views.

We spent 2 nights in this hotel. The village itself is beautiful with a stunning view on the mountains. It may seem difficult to get there because no cars are allowed in the village, but it is in fact quite simple, thanks to the swiss way of organizing things. We took the cable car followed by the train, but we just had nothing to carry, everything was either automatic, or the hotel service took care of our luggage.
The hotel itself is fantastic. It is a real 4 stars. We had a suite for our family (2 adults and 3 kids). The room was very nice, the restaurant for dinner and breakfast was great (Food quality, choice, service). We went skiing and there is a large and well-equipped ski room where all the equipment is stored.
The pool / Sauna / UV is just fantastic. Imagine that you are inside the pool; with all the bubbles around you, and you admire the stunning view through the wide windows.
But what we preferred most was the service ! This hotel is a family business, and everybody here is here to help you, serve you, assist you, and make everything very easy. At the counter you will also find skipass.
Really, these people are so kind, so preventful, always smiling, never say no. Nothing is a problem for them.
We did really appreciate this positive thinking. We will come back surely.

I can't say enough about my recent stay at the Hotel Eiger in Murren. The Swiss Alps were on my bucket list and my recent stay at the Hotel Eiger capped it off amazingly ! The hotel is owned by a family (Stahli) and all of them work at the hotel From the time I came on the train to the time I left, the family helped me and also made my visit extremely comfortable. the family and staff want to make sure you have a great time and keep you busy if you wish. The Hotel is conveniently located right outside the train station where the Porter will meet you and grab your luggage. The rooms are beautiful (spend the extra to face the 3 top mountains - so worth it). Although the hotel is old, they have done a great job renovating and keeping it up. Bathrooms were clean and up to date. Plenty of hot water !! You are minutes / steps from the ski hill. This skiing area by the hotel is not that busy and well groomed. The food at the hotel is exceptional. TAke the dinner package - you will be treated to so much variety and the bar and wait staff are so friendly. this is my favourite hotel destination and many places around the world could learn from the Stahli family. Job well done and looking forward to returning here if I have the chance.

Room Tip: Make sure you book a room in the front of the hotel for the view and on the top floor !

We spent 4 days in this lovely hotel and had a really great time. The owners of the hotel are extremely nice people who really set the tone for the whole place which is very warm and friendly. The photos on the website do not do the hotel much justice. We had a lovely spacious bedroom with a great view of the Eiger.
Breakfast was very good. We had some delicious meals in the hotel's stubli and some great cocktails in the bar.
The staff at reception could not be more delightful and spent much time running through all the activities that the area had to offer.
The pool was a little too chilly for us and the sauna was not working properly which meant it did not get very hot. So in the end we did not spend any time in the 'spa area' but there were so many other things to do anyway, we found it hard to cram everything in.
We found the skiing was better in Wengen then in Murren. It is very easy to get to Wengen with the train and it is a very beautiful ride.
We will definitely come back again, maybe in the summer next time.
