This was our first stop on our European vacation. I really liked the special touches of this hotel. It is family run (for several generations) and the care they take shows that pride. Suzanne was lovely and always present. Bernadette was our server for a snack and drew pictures with my daughter and took care of her (pasta with butter) special requests.
We decided to stay another day and Suzanne and team prepared our room and helped us move the luggage.
It is Switzerland, pricey but I think everything is.

Room Tip: Ask for a view!

Great location opposite the small train station, from Lauterbrunnen, its a train, cable car, then small train to Murren. The views from the hotel are spectacular, to be able to right amongst the action with very little effort would be a great benefit to anyone with limited mobility.
The reception staff are efficient, any requests are dealt with quickly and efficiently.
The long serving waitress Maria is wonderful! Very friendly and helpful, accompanied by her husband, they make a great team. You are made to feel at home instantly and cab quickly relax and plan your time here. The weather can be very changeable, we awoke at 7.30am, to bright sunshine, 25' celcius heat on the balcony thermometer, which rapidly dropped to 10' and stayed at 10' for the rest of the day. Give ample notice to reception to get your luggage across to the station, we didn't and consequently managed our own, though there are a couple of ramps. The food portions are BIG, which made a pleasant change, very nice too.

Room Tip: 456 has a corner balcony, very comfortable room with lovely views.

We spent last week in this amazing hotel, booked to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary, and so my husband could fulfil a long term wish to visit Piz Gloria, one of the locations of his favourite Bond film. We have stayed in some very, very nice hotels over the years, but WOW, this beats them all by a long way. The hotel, our mini suite, the staff, the food - everything was just absolutely amazing. When we went down to dinner on our anniversary, the table had been decorated with roses and candles, it absolutely made our day even more special. Anyone visiting Murren really owes it to themselves not to miss the opportunity of staying at this wonderful hotel. We will definitely be back xxx

Room Tip: We had a mini suite (457) which, granted, was a little extra, but my oh my, was it worth it. Absolu...

We stayed here for part of our honeymoon and absolutely loved everything about this hotel. We had a few (okay, maybe a lot) hiccups making our way from Paris to Murren and ended up at the Gimmelwald station around midnight (but we thought we were in Murren). After waiting 30 minutes for someone at the hotel to pick us up and help with luggage, I called the hotel and the owner picked up saying that he knew we were in Gimmelwald! He had looked for us at the Murren station, and asked other people who caught that last ride to Murren to figure out where we were. Poor guy, he had gone back to the hotel to find my cellphone number so that he could contact me. He said that he only had his golf cart (Murren is a car-free town) and wasn't sure if he'd make it to Gimmelwald and back, but he'd try! He was very determined to get us, which we appreciated very much! Although we had gone through a lot that day and caused this huge mishap - meeting Adrian truly made the experience entertaining. He's so very kind, humble, and funny!

The hotel room was in pristine shape. Everything seemed new and the room was very spacious. There was also a lovely wrap around balcony which we relaxed on often during the evenings. I also love that the hotel is family run.

I would absolutely recommend this hotel. The hotel and the staff are absolutely lovely. This was the best part of our trip (and most memorable)!

My fiance and I just spent most of our honeymoon in Murren. We could not have chosen a better hotel! They are the most friendly and sweetest people. When was the last time the owners of a hotel hugged you before you left? As soon as our week in Murren was up we were headed to Zurich for 2 days. We were so spoiled at the Eiger that when we got to Zurich our hotel could not even compare. I was just looking at pictures and started getting a little teary eyed because we had such an wonderful time and made friends with their AMAZING staff who we miss already! Can't wait to go back! Love you guys! <3

Room Tip: Splurge and get a balcony room, you won't regret it!

Where do I begin? From start to finish this hotel knocked our socks off.

Right from the start we felt right at home. The porter, Leonel, was present the second we got off our train to take whatever bags we wanted to give him. The hotel is located directly across from the train station and up several flights of stairs. There is a ramp located roughly 30 meters away for handicap accessibility. The entrance is directly next to a patio area for one of their restaurants and appeared very inviting if you wanted to sit outside and marvel at the mountain view. The reception area was clean and accented with earthy tiles and marbles. There is a computer screen by the elevator with the day's weather predictions and temperatures.

The reception desk was manned by none other than Susanna the Wife/Co-owner of the hotel! When I introduced us she immediately knew who we were and congratulated us on our marriage! This simple, tiny act of knowing who we were without even looking at the computer screen says everything about this hotel. Susanna showed us up to our room and as requested there were a bouquet of flowers and Champagne on ice waiting for us. Shortly after, Leonel arrived with our bags.

The room was spotless. I checked. Mostly accented with a driftwood style, the wood was inviting and warm. The bathroom was white tile and there was a full medicine cabinet for use. The wardrobe was enclosed and provided tons of room for the two of us. The room safe looked like it was made this century. There was one overhead light which you could dim, two bedside lights (also dimmable), and two reading spot lights which were bright but narrow enough to use while someone is sleeping. The balcony view words simply cannot express. See my picture below. The balcony itself is nice. There's room for sitting and not much else. The wood on the rail is a bit old and looks close to causing its fair share of splinters but i'm sure that's on the to-do list for the hotel since everything else is well kept.

Shortly after getting established upstairs it was time for dinner. We opted for the Dinner package to avoid the unpleasant rush-to-find-a-nice-place-in-time-before-starving that usually occurs when travelling to a new place. Attire is "Business Casual" as we say in America, meaning you can wear a jacket if you want, but generally a nice polo or button down with some slacks and something on par for the ladies is enough to get you by. The dinner package consisted of a five course meal; Starter, Soup, Salad, Entree, Dessert. The portions were not large given the amount of courses. Salad was in the form of a buffet. You can opt out of any of these choices but you really shouldn't miss a thing. There was always three choices for entree with the last being vegetarian. The vegetarian option was always well thought out and not just a salad or some such. I got the vegetarian lasagna once because it sounded really good. It was. Dessert was always small and delicious ranging from a panna cottta of something to a chocolate toblerone mousse.

If I had to mention one downside to the dinner it's that the salad bar definitely felt a little old after a few days. The ingredients were fresh; the variety didn't change much as far as what you could put on the salad. A small matter really. I still had some every night.

Service at dinner was impeccable. If you wanted privacy, the servers obliged. If you wanted to chat or goof around a bit, they did that too. By the end of our stay they were all our friends. Genuinely.

The hotel also features a bar that stays open relatively late for a small town. There is a sitting area with big leather sofas, board games, dominoes, etc... Where you can order dessert or a drink and relax. I do wish the lights had been dimmer but someone might have forgotten when we were there. Bernadette (I hope I got that right) and the older gentleman were very friendly and accommodating.

I looked forward to breakfast every day. It was phenomenal. It was buffet style but that's where the similarities end. As you can see on their website everything is spread out so there's never a line to go through. There's options galore! Three different yogurts including Muesli, cold cuts, lox, cottage cheese, four different breads you slice yourself, cereal, cheeses, pastries, the best eggs you'll ever have, bacon, meso soup (they have alot of asian clients), apple juice, orange juice, grapefruit juice, "vitamin juice" (which is really V8 Splash, here). It was all of fantastic quality and complimentary with your room.

The pool/sauna area. Where do I begin? As can be seen in my picture below, the pool is very welcoming. It's technically open until 8:30 but no one seems to care if you're in there later. One person actually unlocked it for us to use. I think the hours are more for folks under a certain age. The view from the pool is breathtaking. It's a bit annoying all of the people walking by gawking at the pool when you're in there but there's not much to be done about that. There is a dual purpose sauna which can be really hot or really humid depending on what you're looking for. There's also fancy waterfall showers too!

If there's a downside it's that there was very little wifi in the pool area which made it hard for me to play music through my phone to my bluetooth speaker. I would definitely recommend having a stronger signal for in there.

We were staying at the hotel during Swiss National Weekend. It's really a day but it turns into a weekend really quick when there's a festival on as well! We were encouraged to go to the party in the sports center that evening by Carla, a particularly chatty server (in a good way!!!).

We were reluctant at first being foreigners and all but decided to go anyways. At first we definitely felt awkward because it did seem to be more of a local feature and less for tourists but we paid to get in so who cares? We stuck it out. Eventually the Eiger staff made their way down and soon after invited us to come hang out with them. This was such a great gesture to us. They really didn't have to do that, but did. This is where we really got to know a few folks, namely Michael and Leonel. I won't go into details but lets just say the night ended with many drinks and dancing in circles to surprisingly recognizable music with embarrassing pictures! At one point Adrian, the Husband/Hotel Owner, stopped in and gave his hellos, drinking with his staff members and engaging with them as though they were simply friends. This I feel was more the truth. I have always been friends with my bosses because I felt as long as the two things could be separated it was fine. This was apparent with these folks.

What else? The room was quiet to sleep in. The beds were placed appropriately in the "Bed, wall, empty space" pattern so you were never sleeping head to head with the next room over. The room service was fast and well done. We got massages as part of our package. They were nice. Not the best i've had, but nice especially if you're someone who doesn't get one regularly. You can exchange major forms of money at reception. They charged I think three percent just to make it worth while which if you've ever used a Telex booth or bank is a fantastic deal!

At the end of our stay we were on a truly first name basis with everyone, even the owners. We felt as though they had taken guests and turned them into family. Many of the staff members said very nice things about the Stahli family that I could tell were genuine. I have vowed to come back because I already miss being a part of their lives. They have changed my life forever and for that I am grateful to have been part of theirs if only for a few short days. Cheers and good fortune to you!

Alex

We loved it here. The hotel was lovely, the staff friendly and attentive, the food was delicious (especially the breakfast) and the views were spectacular! On our arrival we were invited to a cocktail party where we were able to chat to the staff, which was lovely. We would highly recommend staying here when in Murren.

Room Tip: I don't think you can get a bad room.
