“Perfect Swiss mountain hotel”

We just loved this place. A beautiful mountain chalet with outstanding views, well located in one of the best towns for hiking in the Bernese Oberland. Our room, in the adjacent building, was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with great views. We did half board and loved it--35 CHF per person per night. The half-board option isn't advertised so be sure to ask.

Characteristic Swiss chalet in a tiny village in the Alps! My wife and I stayed for 3 nights. The hotel's hosts, Ralph and Heidi, are welcoming and attentive. The village is postcard perfect, with mountain views in every direction, days worth of hiking options right outside the hotel door, and easy access to the Jungfraujoch and Schilthorn mountain-top train and gondola.

Our room was modest but very comfortable. Our window overlooked the main "street" and had views of the Eiger and other mountains. The breakfast buffet was typically Germanic: spreads of cold cuts, cheeses, breads, yogurt and cereal, and fruit. The coffee was the best we had in 2 weeks in Europe: the steamed Alpine milk made the cafe smooth and creamy. The breakfast was big enough that, with a few pieces of fruit from the market across the street for a midday snack, we could enjoy the Alps all day and be satisfied until evening dinner.

We had one dinner in the hotel's restaurant, again top notch. We had the cheese fondue to start; my wife had a bratwurst and rosti and I had the lamb. All were delicious! Enrique, our server, provided Old World charm.

Thanks, Ralph, Heidi, and Enrique, for making our Swiss Alpine stay so memorable!

Room Tip: Ask for a room over the main street.

Stayed 7 nights at the Hotel Blumental and as the other reviewers stated, this is a great hotel to stay at while in Murren. Both of the owners, Ralph and Heidi are passionate about making sure everyone is being taken care of. I arrived really early and I was able to check in. Room 22, which I was in was clean and the bathroom was recently renovated. The beds were comfortable especially the comforter and pillows. The room had WiFi and it was quick not the slow WiFi you can get at some hotels. I was able to watch movies on my computer with no problems. As mentioned in other reviews, the breakfast consisted of fresh local meats, cheeses and bread. Also there were hard boil eggs and cereals. I ate dinner every night at La Grotte, the hotel restaurant and I didn't have a bad meal at all. The best deal is the "Tages Menu", which is the Days Menu. Its usually a different main dish every night. And and the deserts were so good. On the weekends, the restaurant is really busy, well most nights it was really busy, so make sure you make a reservation. I just told Ralph I would be there for dinner every night so I always had a table. The hotel is approximately 10 minutes from the main train stations but its primarily flat so an easy walk. The Coop is right across the street, but it is not open on Sundays.

The hotel is very nice and charming. The location is excellent for many hikes around the Mürren area. Breakfast is kind of OK, offering boiled eggs, bread, some cheese slices, ham, turkey slices, a fruit yogurt, coffee and cereals.

The building itself is full of character and has a nice feel to it. The staff extremely friendly and helpful.

A couple of things that could've been better are:
-The bedroom floors were not clean enough, so walking barefoot is not an option.
-No drinking water was provided in the room, but since you can drink water from any tap in Switzerland, that would've been an issue if some mug or glass was provided in the room. There's no minibar or a kettle to boil water or anything to drink water in.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms next to the staircase of course! Being as the hotel is an old Swiss Chalet, anyone g...

We stayed at this hotel because of the great reviews it received right here...and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT!

After falling asleep each night with the Eiger right out my window, I would wake up and have an amazing breakfast of fresh meats, cheeses, and of course, croissants. (Don't worry, there's cereal there, too, if you prefer)! Coffee and tea was brought to our breakfast table each morning by the wonderful husband and wife who own it.

It is located on a main street filled with beautiful chalets, with a small co-op grocery store right across the street, in case you needed to pick up some fresh fruit for your hike or toiletries you forgot. Also, the best gift store in town is right beside it!

No matter where we hiked or traveled during the day, we were sure to come back and have dinner at their restaurant, which was simply FABULOUS. If you've been active all day and are looking for a phenomenal hot meal, this restaurant will keep your taste buds engaged for multiple meals throughout your trip. Their wild mushroom and beef ragot and farmer's salad were a few of our favorites! Don't miss out on crepes and gelato for dessert!

Great memories and after 5 nights, was not ready to leave this wonderful place!

Room Tip: Top floor rooms allow you to see above neighboring chalets enjoy the view!

My wife and I just finished a week vacation in Murren and stayed at this hotel. The owner and his wife are very helpful and welcoming from the moment you walk in. The room was very nice and neat, beds were comfortable, we had a great balcony which looked out right over the main street, and the food in the restraunt is incredible! Service in the restraunt is also the best in the town from our experience (did not try hotel Eiger). It is a little ways from the main train station, but pretty central to just about everything else. Breakfast in the morning is nice and fairly typical of what you would expect. All in all, my wife and I had a very nice trip and our stay here helped make it that way.

My husband & I recently stayed at this hotel for three nights & we cannot rave enough about it! It really is more like staying at a B&B, or with family who take care of your every need. The owners work incredibly hard to make sure everything is perfect, & it was. They run the front desk all day, the restaurant each evening (which was absolutely delicious & quite popular!), & turn right around to take care of breakfast (coffee, bread, cereal, etc.) every morning. We were amazed by their hard work & dedication to this hotel!

Our room was cozy, clean, & comfortable with traditional decor that could not have been more perfect for the Swiss Alps. (Even the squeaky hardwood floors added to the charm of the place!) It does not have A/C, but we slept with our door open & did not need it. The bathroom was a bit dated (the toilet & shower were blue!), but I think the hotel is slowly renovating each room. It was, however, clean & the shower always had hot water, which is all that really matters anyway! The BEST part of the room was the down comforter on the bed. I have no idea how they keep those things so fluffy, but I honestly looked forward to crawling into that bed at the end of each day to cozy up under the covers! (Yes, even in summer.)

One random thing to note: Switzerland does not use the same outlets as the rest of Europe. We did not realize this & did not have the right converter for our phone chargers, but there was one in the room for us to use. Seems like many visitors run into this issue! Just one more example of how this hotel has thought of all the minor details.

The location of the hotel is great, but really they all are as Murren is quite a small town. We loved that it is directly across from the grocery store, which was handy for packing lunches each day for our hikes. (It's also a great way to save money, as eating out in Switzerland is VERY expensive!) In fact, one evening we just bought beer, cheese, bread, & sausage & had a light dinner on our terrace rather than going out!

You may be tempted by some of the other hotels that have unobstructed views of the mountains, but you would be missing out on a truly charming & memorable hotel that you will not want to leave. Murren was the highlight of our trip throughout France & Switzerland, & Hotel Blumental will definitely be the place we stay if we are ever lucky enough to return.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the mountains also face a few buildings across the street, but you still have a nice vi...
