“Great Great Great!”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

I cannot say enough good things about the Eiger Guesthouse. My husband and I stayed there 2 summers ago, July 2012, (sorry for the late review) for 3 nights and it just wasn't long enough - and I honestly have to tell you that I got choked up leaving, saying goodbye. We ventured to the Eiger Guesthouse due to their great reviews, and we were NOT disappointed. The staff were top notch. Ema, the manager, was exceptional is making us feel at home and like family. I felt like we were staying with old friends. Our room was clean, cozy, and comfortable, with a great view of the Eiger, the bed(s) were comfortable, and the bath was clean and spacious. The food was fantastic! Breakfasts were plentiful and with a good variety. Dinners were delicious! Traditional and exactly what we wanted - to experience Switzerland's culture. (We got the half board, which was a great value, esp with such good chefs, and we highly recommend it!) We had casually mentioned to Ema one day that we couldn't wait to to try fondue (one of our favorites) while we were in Switzerland, and low and behold, she talked with the chef and they made an exception, and our half board that evening was fondue! (It was not their planned meal for the half board that night.) Who does that?! :) Well, THEY did ...and it was great! Another example of going "above and beyond" for their patrons. Murren is a quaint and lovely "no traffic" town, high in the alps, with gorgeous views. I don't think our experience would have been the same had we stayed elsewhere. Although I am sure other places are good, I just can't imagine being treated any better or more valuable as Ema and her staff made us feel. Every time I see their pictures or think of Switzerland, I can feel my heart smile! :)

Room Tip: Just tell them what you want and Ema will guide you!

This remains one of our very favorite places to stay in the world. We returned so that our son could hang out for a few days with Bonnie, the resident French Bulldog. The pair are deeply enamoured. It is worth the plane, train, bus, train, cable car, train ride to be here!

As before, our room was immaculately clean. We loved the new wall color. The view from the balcony never gets old - even in the rain and mist, still a million dollar view, but at a very affordable price in Switzerland.

Needless to say, Ema and Nat make all of the guests feel special and loved (as does Bonnie). We will return.

Room Tip: No such thing as a bad room. The mountain views are impressive.

My brother any my families (4 adults and 4 kids ranging in age 11 - 18) choose Murren and the Eiger Guesthouse and are very glad we did. Murren is quaint with great hikes and multiple choices of restaurants. The Guesthouse was clean, comfortable and the staff makes a point to make you welcome and provide recommendations on what to see and what's over-rated. Both are high on my list of places to visit again.

The kids enjoyed shooting pool and playing foosball and we enjoyed....the beer and wine.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms on the 2nd level (1st Floor using their vernacular) with the balancy.

We spend 3 nights at the guesthouse and had a wonderful time.
Ema, who runs the place, is great, from the moment we came until we left they all made us feel good and welcome.
The location is great. The view from the balcony is breathtaking, Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau mountains just in front of you.

We have just returned from another wonderful stay in lovely Murren at the fabulous Eiger Guesthouse. Ema and her staff made us welcome from the moment we arrived to the moment, we left, nothing was too much trouble for them. The guesthouse has a warm, friendly, relaxed atmosphere and is in a fabulous location opposite the little railway station. The rooms are very comfortable and spotlessly clean with rooms at the front of the hotel having spectacular views of the mountains. The restaurant offers a choice of both Mediterranean and Swiss cuisine and is always busy, probably because the service is excellent and the food is delicious. We have been to Murren several times and have stayed at other hotels in the village but we think the Eiger Guesthouse is the best, we wouldn't stay anywhere else now.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel have fantastic mountain views

The staff was great. Our 9 and 5 yr old children were too tired for a 2nd hike so they found a movie in English and let them watch it in the game room while I sat outside the door and read my book with a glass of wine. Food was excellent and bar service at night was friendly. Our room was small but what we expected since it is a guest house and there were 5 of us (a bunk and a king bed). They even gave us child's bedding for our daughter so she could sleep in between us with her own blanket and pillow. Sharing a shower/toilet was not as much as of an inconvenience as one might think as you are outside enjoying the beautiful scenery most of the time. Hiking the Kids Adventure Trail down to Murren was so fun and I don't think I have felt that relaxed and at peace in 10 years (my oldest age). We also used the community pool which was complimentary. Highly recommend Eiger Guesthouse if you want great food and genuine friendly customer service. Most of the staff are transplants and love living and working there.

Room Tip: we got the last room so can't help there but there are some with balconies
