A lovely little village on the train-line from Lauterbrunnen and onto Kleine Sheidegg and then up to Jungfraujoch. The single room is extremely small, but after reading reviews I was prepared for this and quite comfortable, and warm (during 3-4 degree nights). The village is lovely, with fantastic views, and a supermarket, bakery and some restaurants/bars. The breakfast was included in my room rate and was outstanding. Cereals, eggs, fresh bread from the bakery, cured meats & cheeses, yoghurt and fruit. The breakfast room gives you a wonderful start to the day with a view of the Jungfrau. Only downside is you have to pay for wi-fi. 5Eu for 24hrs. Very short walk from the train station.

Stayed for one week for a skiing holiday with my son. Having read the reviews on this site I was concerned so was very pleasantly surprised as the hotel was much better than expected. On arrival at the station was met by the Hotels small pick up to convey the luggage plus us the short distance to the hotel. Wengen is a small place with very limited traffic and the only access is from Lauterbrunnen by rack railway.
The food is adequate both breakfast and evening meal and on one night we ate at the Pizzeria across the road which is owned by the same family and offers better quality food. I believe that this offer is granted to all those that stay for a week.
The location on the main street is brilliant. Next door but one to a ski shop with rental facilities. 50 metres from the only cable car and 100 metres or so to the rail station which is the other way to access the slopes. I often skied from the top of the mountain and didn't take off my skis until less than 10 metres from the hotel.
It is a family run hotel and the son, who doubled up in the office and waiting on in the restaurant, was very concerned that a fault with the TV was sorted quickly.
My single room was "upgraded" on check in to a double which was good as it was nice and quiet, but my son was less fortunate and had a small single with good views over the nursery slopes but had the paper thin walls that are referred to on other reports.
In conclusion, this hotel is great for a cheap place to stay when skiing or similar is the main purpose of the stay and the ambiance of the hotel is low down the priority list.

A group of us on a ski trip to Switzerland stayed for the week at the Hotel Bernerhof in Wengen.
The village is a delight and would highly recommend. The location and skiing was fabulous.
The location of the hotel was good being close to the lift and train station. The only downfall was the food served in the evenings. On one night the option was burger and chips, now I know some people would love this but I have never been offered this option whilst staying in a ski hotel and like to sample the countries food whilst staying.
Apart from that the food on offer at breakfast was adequate and the staff very friendly although the hotel lacked a place for any sort of communing with fellow guests for even the group of people we went away with. At one point we asked it we could sit on the sofas and the staff member had to check if this was ok as the room was in darkness. The only option we felt we had was to leave the hotel and find a local bar where we could drink and play cards.

We booked a last minute holiday to this hotel, little concerned as it was described as a small room in the attic from our holiday company, it had 2 stars and shared facilities. What a nice surprise it was when we got our room, admittedly it was basic, but clean, warm and comfortable and on the front of the hotel with THE BEST VIEW we have ever had on our many ski trips. In a superb location, right on the main street..We did have shared facilities, but this was never a problem, only 3 rooms sharing, and toilet and shower kept very clean Staff were helpful and friendly. The food was fine, the usual continental selection at breakfast time, lovely and fresh. There was a choice of 5 main courses for evening meals, always a veggie choice, with a fresh salad bar and soup for starter. Puddings were a little limited, but ok. One night we got to eat at the sister Hotel Residence, this was very nice indeed. There was space for ski storage, little lack of security from residents on locking this door, but not the hotels fault at all. I would be happy to stay here again.

Charming hotel ideally situated in the centre of wengen. Staff we're very friendly and helpful. The food was fine, although a bit rustic. Catered well for vegetarians and children, and offered a daily fondue or raclette option as well as the daily menu.
The room was very small, which was the only downside, but that didn't detract from a fantastic holiday.

We stayed here for 3 nights in the summer. The first room they gave us was nothing more than a "MINIROOM" there was no space at all, tiniest bathroom you would ever see. We rejected that room in first minute we were there.
So she then upgraded us to their other building where they have bigger room but then no WIFI ... It was not a free upgrade, we had to pay.
the new room was okay with excellent views ( you get excellent views from everywhere btw)

There was no free breakfast and we felt it was highly overpriced.

Room Tip: If you don't want tiny rooms ask for the bigger rooms upfront, but be aware there is no WIFI in...
