This is another interesting ibis which shows that the company is building architecturally impressive hotels and not just an inexpensive box to stay in. The hotel is pyramid-shaped and shares space with a McDonald's. The hotel is surrounded by the Alps and the rooms are clean and modern. It is a functional European-style hotel which means you get a room, shower, and television.

We stayed there for about $129 per night which is a bargain by Swiss standards. The McDonald's has a breakfast area which is up to Swiss standards and is more like a Starbucks than a McDonald's in the U.S. The hotel is next to a shopping center with a Migros supermarket where you can get all sorts of food at non-tourist prices.

The hotel is about a mile from the main railway station so you can see much of the city by walking to and from the city center. If you need transportation because of luggage a city bus takes you from the railway station to a stop right by the hotel.

Switzerland is a neutral country which has not adopted the frenzied 24/7 lifestyle carried on in most of the rest of the West. This means just about everything in Chur is closed on Sundays except for a few cafes. If you take the Rhaetian Railway into the Alpine tourist areas such as Arosa or Davos the cafes may be open on Sunday but closed on Monday. The local Chur beer Calanda is a pretty good crisp lager.

While on a motorcycle tour we had a minor accident and the RAC booked this hotel for us. The reception staff could not have been more helpful! They helped us sort out our journey back to the UK by looking online to check for train and flight times/fares. The room was comfortable and quiet and just what we needed after a stressful day.

A small Ibis hotel, clean, modern and nice. Rooms are really small but have a shared balcony. Breakfast was fine but situated in the lobby which was somewhat funny. Free indor parking. A little outside the city but quiet.

Nice clean hotel, a bit out of town but we had a car so it was no problem. Staff were lovely and friendly with good English. Attached to a mcdonalds but walk next door to the pizza restraunt instead, much nicer. Room was at the top but good space and comfy beds. Free wifi with codes but sometimes they didn't last the 24hours, so get extra just Incase, annoying having to go to reception when in bed to get wifi codes.

This is a business hotel. Very far from the train station. Share's space with McDonald's. Unable to get them to understand we needed a Taxi. Fortunately the bus stopped near the hotel but we ended up walking forever at night trying to find a way back to the hotel. I'd skip this one. Also not secure as the rooms share a common balcony. If you leave your window open (no AC) you are at risk.

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else.

Dear Elizabeth S.

Thank you very much for your feedback. That is true, we are not in the city center but by bus you reach the train station in 8 min or 20 min walking. The busstop is directly infront of the hotel. If you arrive by car we are near the motorway exit "Chur Süd". I can assure that you are not at risk with an open window. It is a common balcony, because the balcony is an emergency exit and we are not allowed to have a fence. Nobody from outside the hotel can enter the balcony.

Kind Regards
Andreas Regli

This is a very modern Ibis hotel but it's a long way to walk to the town centre and part of that walk is through a rather seedy area of town. Having said that the hotel is clean, comfortable and close to the Autobahn if you're just using it as a stopping off point. Staff are friendly and helpful, rooms clean and well appointed.

Dear Mr. Ralph,

thank you very much for taking the time to write a comment about our hotel. We are very glad that you liked our hotel, and the always helpful staff. We appreciate always the positive feedback from our guests! Our hotel is situated outside the town centre, but it is not more than 10 minutes by public transport - a direct bus from the train station to the hotel. If one decides to take a walk to the town it takes about 20 minutes.

We hope you will visit us again and wish you all the best until then!

Sicerely,
Your ibis Chur team!
