We were heading to Davos to go snowboarding (first time on real snow abroad) sopaid £90 a night for 4 nights at the beginning of March (compared with over £200 a night for a hotel). For this we got a studio room, with a sofa that turned into a double bed. Very clean, very well kitted out, everything looked new. and loadsof heating so never got cold when we were inside. Also complex has a locked Ski room for storing all the kit, including a blower system to dry your boots out overnight.

The apartments are about a 10 minute walk from Davos Dorf, but we only walked a couple of times at night time as the local bus (which is free as you are staying at the apartment) stops right outside the complex (runs till about 6pm at night), then drops you about 1 minute away from the Parsenn funicular railway access to get you up to the slopes. Staff at the apartments sorted us out with our Rega Skip Pass (177chf each for 3 days) and got a 10% discount in Ettinger Sport for snowboard and boot hire which is right besde the railway as well (good quality gear, everything new, really good service) cos we were staying at Solaria.

Went out for food the first night, found it hugely expensive (and very limited in the Dorf part) so then opted just to cook in the apartment instead for the next 2 nights. All the restaurants seem to be part of the hotels, with prices to boot. All the stuff you could need is in the apartment for lobbing some pasta together, including coffee machine, essential to get you going in the morning!! Plus Solaria offer your the ability to pre-order fresh rolls/bread/croissants each day at a price which appears to be the same as the supermarket.

Makes for a long night cooking in the apartment, so still headed into Davos Platz on the local buses (again frequent and free) and went to Tijuana Bar which is near the train station. Happy hour between 5pm and 8pm so took advantage of cheaper beers. Wanted to make the most of the snowboarding so early to bed.

Only snowboarded at Parsenn as the runs were wide and long, so better for us to practise, but have been told that Jakobshorn is more kitted for proper snowboarding, and is more of a party piste!

So, Solaria, good value for money, very helpful staff, good location for Parsenn (actually good location for all the slopes as all connected by a free bus system)

I stayed at the Solaria for an end-of season ski break. For just £40 a night I got a modern, warm, spotlessly clean apartment. The sofa-bed was comfy, kitchenette was more than adequate, and the shower was excellent. Reception staff were very helpful and provided lifts to & from the station and Jakobshorn ski area. The local bus to the main Parsenn ski area stopped right outside. Breakfast and newspaper deliveries could be provided on request. The only down-side was that Davos had closed for the season, even if the ski lifts were still running. It felt like a ghost town in the evening. The Wellness centre in town was great, however.

My wife, daughter and I went to Davos - their first time, my first time on holiday; I'd been previously for the WEF.
I was sceptical about Solaria at first - partly because it was so much cheaper than hotel accommodation in Davos.
But ... would definitely stay there again. The rooms are well designed, well furnished and - compared to ski apartments we'd stayed in in France - spacious. The radiators actually work (ie on AND off), water is hot and most balconies seem to face south(ish).
Solaria is a complex of buildings - our rooms were in the one furthest from the road ... but it was still only about a ten minute walk into Dorf which was good for building an appetite in the evenings. We came by train ... frankly, a car would have been a burden.
A nordic run and a footpath go right by the back of the complex ... so if you're into cross country, it is more or less ski to door.
Bunda - a good long beginners lift/run - is about fifteen minutes walk (in ski boots), the Parsenn mountain train a little further ... though there is a bus that takes about two minutes.
Staff are very, very proud of their service - and it's worth asking them for most things ... even if they're not advertised.
There's a free minibus at 9, 10 and 11 down to Platz in the morning and then back in the afternoons.
The Davos guest card gives you free travel on town buses and the local train a couple of stations in either direction.
Very pleased to have found it.

In the summer season, this place is a great value. We paid $45 for an apartment with a balcony, two twin beds, a bathroom and a kitchen. The front desk staff are english speaking and very helpful. There is free internet in the reception building, and wireless for purchase. They also gave us a pass for free cable car rides and free public transit. Hiking, biking and nordic walking tours could also be organized thru the front desk, but we did not take advantange. Bike rental was free. There is laundry on-site at Solaria, 5 CHF per load (which is a bargain compared to laundry at other hotels in the area). Two grocery stores are within a 10 min walk. Public transit at the doorstep. 15-20 min walk from Davos Dorf train station. There are a lot of extras available for nominal fees - breakfast/lunch delivery, internet, apartment cleaning, restaurant reservations, etc. The apartment was small at 225 sq. feet, however the bathroom was a decent size, it had a tub and shower. Given what other hotels in Davos cost, I would stay here again.

Stayed at the Solaria from Dec 25th to 31st while attending the Spengler Cup hockey tournament. The Solaria is located about 500 meters from the main road in Davos, called Promenade. I would highly recommend the Solaria for someone looking for apartment style accomodations. They have a wide variety of units and layouts, from small 2 person to large family apartments. The front-desk staff was extremely helpful, Solaria has a shuttle bus to the ski hills, will lend you everything from a blowdryer to a cell phone, free internet use etc....
