A historic farmhouse in the pulsing heart of St. Moritz, this beautiful building is as rich in atmosphere as it’s in history. In 1936, ›Chesa Veglia‹ was transformed by Badrutt’s Palace Hotel into an avant-garde meeting place for budding epicureans, the forefathers of today’s foodies. Lovely restaurant, Pizzas mainly. The pizzas were a bit small and more expensive than Diamond restaurant, but this is a smarter restaurant

“Bad surprise”

It was our good habit, to visit the pizzeria chesa Veglia with kids and friends. It is a luxury alpine family restaurant where quality used to be connected with the it's cost. I am speaking in the past, as 2 evenings ago we were there with our family and unfortunately we were only surprised by the poor quality of our pizzas and salads, in contrast with their prices. I am sad to say that, as a dream is gone, but I feel it is important to tell it for the next customers. Please be aware.

“Classic Swiss Cuisine”

The walk from Badrutt's Palace was less than 5 minutes and after a delicious Swiss meal the walk home was welcomed! Charming atmosphere with warm and efficient service.

“Ambushed by the drinks bill!”

If you think 23 CHF is expensive for a rather average margarita pizza, wait till you see the price of the drinks! 7 CHF for a small bottle of (flat) lemonade and 14 CHF for a bottle of still water. I know St Moritz is expensive, but that's crazy. And they don't list the price of the drinks on the menu and ambush you with it at the end. Not very nice. I'm glad we didn't order a bottle of wine! The decor is nice and the service is ok, but I felt ripped off.

“How to Eat Poorly and Pay too much”

We were in St. Moritz for a few days at the beginning of August and on the first evening came across Chesa Veglia. The weather was good enough for us to sit outside on the Terrace. The terrace is large but the furniture is of a cheap weatherproof quality. We ordered a mushroom soup and Züricher Geschnizteltes. The soup was very poor and tasted as if it had been made from a packet using too much water although the price did not reflect this - 26 Swiss Francs for a serving!!!! Our main course was a small protion of the famous Swiss dish Züricher Geschneteltes which we had the impression had not been prepared fresh. It was fairly tasteless and unimaginatively served on a dish. For a price of 50 Swiss Francs per serving this is one of the worst main courses that we have ever eaten. The atmosphere was further ruined by waiters who we had the opinion of not knowing what they were doing. All in all we had a Bill of 182 Swiss Francs for a starter and a main course for 2 people plus 2 very small glasses of red wine (in Switzerland be prepared a glass of wine is normally about half of the volume that one would expect anywhere else in the world) and a bottle of water. We will never be going to this particular Restaurant again and we do not normally write commentaries but in this case we felt it to be our duty.
