Okay, I admit I am a none-skiier and visited this hotel to eat only during the summer months when the many of the other hotels are shut down! But I expected St Moritz and its hotels to be lush and glitzy; an unforgettable experience etc.
This hotel for me, is like a giant Butlins overlooking a wonderful lake. I am not knocking Butlins... but if you book to go to Butlins you know what to expect. The restaurant is vast, with no intimate spaces and if full, I can imagine noisy with no intimate space to dine as a couple.
Maybe, the hubbub of ski talk makes it vibrant!?
But expensive... it cost 49 Swiss Francs per person to basically eat beef stew. 100+ for lunch; for stew and salad. Served by the most friendliest of waiters who noticed I had a headache and offered to get me an aspirin... but who also sadly smelled so strongly of cigarettes, the smell wafting over my beef stew (Russian Beef Stew, I hasten to add)... was really off putting!
I don't know how people can afford to eat at these prices... especially for very little in return; it is crazy money! Little wonder that the place was totally deserted!More
