“Great value for money”
Reviewed 4 October 2005

My husband, mother and i stayed there for a week in March, to this day we still remembered as one of our best skiing holidays.
We had to rooms both double one with a bath one with a shower, this rooms did not have lake views and were small but very well fitted with plenty of wardrobe space and all the little luxury touches of a 4 star hotel, bathrobes, sleepers, chocolate on the pillow at night, bed turning, etc.
We chose the half board option and the breakfast was excellent but at dinner the Chef really shine, what an excellent culinary experience, every night we looked forward to dressing up and be surprise by wonderful works of art that were each course we would all choose different dishes not to miss any of them. I have been to many of the worlds top restaurants and the food here matched them all. Service in the restaurant was exceptional. All staff were very helpful and friendly. a holiday to be remember and repeated

A study in mediocrity. A group of 25 of us from the Vail, Colorado area spent three nights at the Schweizerhof in September, 2005. This hotel is rated a ****, and would be, in U.S. Standards, a **. The lobby and facilities are tired and shabby. The rooms are clean but very dated and sterile. The staff is uninformed - several people out of our group would ask questions and would have many different responses (if the staff knew the answers at all). Questions included prices of internet services and availability, dining services and spa services; answers that staff should readily know.

Our first night there we were served a truly horrific meal - chicken breasts that would have been acceptable on an airplane (I'm a flight attendant), not a 4 star hotel. When half of our group cancelled for the group dinner two nights later, they told us we would still be charged. The manager was downright rude and surly - not at all customer oriented. As a flight attendant, I am used to a varying degree of hotels, and this, by far, was one of my worst experiences ever.

We stayed in late May in the off season when virtually nothing is open in St. Moritz. The hotel shuttle bus neglected to collect us at the station. Since I had not requested a taxi receipt, the hotel could not reimburse me. However, as compensation, they upgraded us to a lake view room which was quite fabulous.

Upon checkout, we decided to catch an earlier train and the shuttle driver dropped everything to take us immediately to the station.

The rooms were nice, well-furnished, and spacious, with nice amenities. The television was extremely small, but I imagine that most guests spend very little time watching it. Breakfast was very nice as well, with both hot and cold items.

Instead of dining in the hotel, we dined at the patisserie, coffee shop-type restaurant directly across the street. It was extrememly good, but unfortunately I cannot remember the name. I believe that the name begins with an "H". There is a hotel attached to it as well. It was packed, whereas the Schweizerhof's dining room was empty.

After many years staying at "The Palace" during the annual obligatory half term skiing trip to St Moritz (FEB) decided to try something else. Always thought Palace overpriced (although a wonderful experience) but ex wife liked its showiness! Decided to take advice of locals and try the centrally located Schweizerhoff. On booking, disappointed at having to take dinner option but my word, it turned out to be excellent value for money. A four course meal that is unlikely to be bettered at any other restaurant in St. Moritz (I have tried most of them) at a cost of only £15.00 per head. In addition to the outstanding dinner, the breakfast was excellent. Far more was on offer than one normally finds on mainland Europe and for that matter in the UK. Service at both meals was impeccable and the dining room team extremely friendly and efficient. Each night, the management provided some form of entertainment free of charge which included a champagne reception where vintage champers flowed into my seemingly bottomless glass; a ride in horse drawn sleighs through the woods; an evening where tenors sang the classics. Not your Butlins this. The room was outstanding and large enough for 2 adults and one 11 year old; with a balcony and view of the lake. There is a sun lounging area and a sauna. We also had use of the pool at the Steffani across the road. Staff throughout the hotel were fantastic and could not do enough to help us and make our stay as perfect as possible. There was however one exception in paradise and that was the lounge bar where the speed, quality and attitude of the person delivering what she believed to be service was severly lacking and could explain why the place was always empty. This however is not a problem as there are 3 other lively bars with live music (and another restaurant) in the hotel. Staying here really added to the whole experience and I am going back for Easter. What better recommendation could there be?
