“Great Little Find”
Reviewed 31 August 2013

Hotel Eden is a great little find in St. Moritz. It is right in the mix with the "big boys" without the big ticket price-tag. It has a great location two doors away from the Hotel Kulm and is just up the hill behind the Palace Hotel. The southern lake view is shadowed by the Palace Hotel but you can see the east and west portion of the lake. Besides the location another enjoyable part of the stay is the breakfast buffet which is located in a large and elegantly furnished room which at some point was probably the hotel's dining room. There is a large selection of breakfast foods... cereals, ham, Swiss cheeses (of course), freshly cut fruits, fresh yogurt, freshly baked breads and croissants, jams, fruit juices, and boiled eggs (with the option of omelets, scrambled and fried eggs for a slight upcharge). Every afternoon between 3 PM and 7 PM cake, coffee and tea are available in the salon. The decor in the rest of the hotel is a somewhat odd mix of contemporary and country furniture and lighting. Our room was very roomy with plenty of storage and a large bathroom with tub and hand held shower. The staff was most accomodating and helpful with activities in the area and dinner recommendations. There is free parking in front of the hotel. It is considered a bed and breakfast so dinner and lunch are not served... but that just allows you to experience the many wonderful restaurants in town.

Room Tip: The rooms on the south side have the best lake views.

We booked a superior room for 2 adults and our son. When we got there they upgraded us to a suite with kitchen, living room (with extra bed for our son), bedroom and bathroom. Wow. We never get upgrades. We felt like celebrities. The suite was very nice. There was a big, industrial strength safe, which was very useful for putting the laptop in when we went walking. There was also an automatic coffee machine. The decor is quirky, but I liked it. Breakfast was good. They do free tea, coffee and cakes in the lounge in the afternoon (the cake is very nice). You also get free local travel cards if you stay 2+ nights. The staff were very helpful and friendly and spoke good English. You are also close to the centre of town (avoid the nearby Chesa veglia, 14 CHF for a bottle of water!). It is about 10 minutes walk from the train station (follow their directions and it is escalators most of the way). There is a small terrace with a giant chess set. It is expensive by UK standards, but probably reasonable by St Moritz standards. Recommended.

We had a great stay in hotel Eden. We had a nice room with a big balcony facing the city centre. The receptionist Simona, was very friendly and patiently explained how to get around. The breakfast and the breakfast room were both excellent ! Highly recommended!

The hotel is an old style, very pleasant, the breakfast is fantastic, the staff is very friendly and helpful and making you feel home. They serve coffee, tea and cake in the afternoon without charge. The town of St. Moritz is pleasant and beauty full of trails to hike and ride by bike.

I stayed solo for two nights in late July 2013. I was lucky to have this hotel as a base for my visit to St Moritz. On check-in I was offered a free room upgrade, which gave me a fantastic view of the lake and the other landmarks in town. The room was immaculately clean, very spacious with a good supply of tolietries. The wi-fi access worked fine very night. I was able to really enjoy the communal balcony area in the evenings, it offered a calm atmosphere in which to relax and watch the sun go down.

The hotel offers many useful services, like shuttle pick-ups from the station, afternoon tea and lots of local information The front desk staff were always helpful and spoke excellent English. The breakfast buffet offered plenty for a vegetarian and was very well managed. I have to also mention the effort that has gone into the loby decor too it provides a strong sense of local history.

This was certainly the best hotel that I stayed in on my trip, one of the most unique and rewarding hotels I have visited in general.

Just back from my second visit to this hotel. Well situated in centre of St Moritz, good access to funicular for Corviglia, and plenty of restaurants nearby. As others have said, it is a bit of a climb from the station, but turn left off the station platforms, past the bus stops, into an underground car park and take the lifts or escalators up to the town. Hotel staff are brilliant, rooms clean and comfortable. Breakfast is a good continental selection. WiFi available. Some rooms have views of the lake.
