“overall very good - but disappointed with the room quality on the top floor”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 March 2013

Had a good stay. Unfortunately had a room on the top floor with a sloping roof which gave it a cramped feeling. Also as it was high up, we only had a box window looking at the back of the hotel. However, putting that aside everything else was top class! The breakfast & dinners were excellent! A shirt bus ride takes you to the center of the village.

Room Tip: avoid the top floor rooms

The Kempisnki has everything you can imagine for a really amazing ski holiday. It is right opposite to the main cable car to one of the main ski areas, Corviglia, and it is also conveniently located for the other main area, Corvatsch, since it is only a short bus ride away and there is a piste ending right at the hotel door.
Spa facilities are simply some of the best I have ever seen, and the restaurants at the hotel are amazing, including Michelin-starred ones,
Now, it is not cheap. You get value for money, but money also attracts bad taste, and some of the guests have a lot of both. So get ready to be treated as second class unless you are a Russian oligarch. These guests get their skis carried by the bell boys, who are not stupid and know they are getting a huge tip. All other guests come second.

Room Tip: Make sure that you are not staying in a room with a communicating room with another room. If there a...

Just returned from the White Turf weekend in St. Moritz staying in the Kempinski (room rates increase because of this event). Beautifully appointed hotel with wonderfully attentive door, bar and restaurant staff. It's pricey (it is St. Moritz after all!) but the service, food and overall standard of the hotel is top class. Not at all stuffy or pretentious with a relaxed informal atmosphere. Breakfast is pretty impressive. We would have liked to have had use of the hotel shuttle a little more frequently and whilst just a short walk to the ski lift it would have been better to have located the ski shop closer to the lift! We would definitely not hesitate in staying here again.

Room Tip: No a/c so set your radiators to an ambient temperature before you go out

We really enjoyed our stay at the Kempinski Grand Hotel de Bains in St. Moritz - the service was great, the quality of food was fantastic, the rooms were extremely pleasant and the location is fantastic.

The staff was very friendly and efficient and went out of their way to make sure everything was meeting our expectations. Breakfast offering is amazing.

I would recommend the Kempinski Grand Hotel de Bains any time.

From the moment the immaculately presented person opens your car door, you know you are on holiday. There is nothing the staff won't do to assist your stay. The introduction to the beautifully furnished hotel is extremely thorough and they pay a lot of attention to detail. The dining areas are formal, yet relaxed. We were there at Christmas time and were fortunate to be surrounded by white, crisp snow, which made the fireplace and piano bar even more enjoyable. The spa and pool area are of the highest standard. The dining experience was well above average and the service, outstanding. Cannot wait to go back and be thoroughly spoiled all over again.

It was my fifth staying in this hotel. And as it was before my perceptions were different. On the one hand this is a big pretty comfortable hotel within walking distance from the slopes. We had prepaid half board and the food was grate. What was disappointing? Unfortunately such big hotel, as a rule, can not offer a personal approach. My expectations are pretty simple. If I pay few thousand francs a day for a suite , I expect to have at least basic staff well arranged. What I mean. I ordered two suites for my family directly in the hotel two months before. Having arrived at 4 PM I found that one suite was not ready, in spite of the fact that day before that confirmed me by mail that everything would be ready by 3 PM. I was told a funny story at the reception about previous guest and I was asked to wait a bit. After 1.5 hours of waiting I lost my patience and ask somebody from management to tell me whats was going on. Finally I got another suit. In fact I can not recall anything like that in the hotels of such calibre and price . But the most disappointing
thing in this story for me was No Apologies To Me From Management At All.
One more funny story about the hotel. They arranged a New Year party on 31th of Dec. The price was 690 Swiss francs per person. The participation was MANDATORY! We had some kids with us and we had different plans. We were told that we had to pay any way. OK whatever. What kind of dinner you should expect for 690 Fr per person? Champaign and caviar plus Elton John?
Nothing of the kind. Nor water, no wine just a little better than ordinary dinner. For me it looked like some kind of cheating. It would be more fair just to raise tariffs and not to spoil New Year evening for people.
Last remark. Each suite has different number of closets for dress. My sons suite had 3 of them but mine had only one. The were three of us. As a result the hole corner of the suite was loaded with ski stuff.

All of the big four in St Moritz are expensive, but I do not expect a tatty and worn out suite when paying such a huge rate. As one would expect; good breakfasts, nice lounge, very nice spa and pool. No views and isolated, but very convenient for the Signalbahn. I prefer the atmosphere at the Kemp to stuffy Badrutt's (don't they know compulsory jacket and tie in lounges and dining room went out a couple of decades ago), but BP seems to have better rooms so until somebody tells me all of Kemp suites have be refurbished, I'll stick with BP and dine out.

Room Tip: I took a suite and two single rooms. All were tatty. My tip? Stay somewhere else until Kemp spend...
