“Old-fashioned but quaint”

We stayed for 2 nights and had a pleasant stay! This hotel is not flash but it's cosy. It has very dated but comfortable sized rooms with rather hard mattresses. The bathroom was very well fitted out. Separate toilet and two wash basins!
There is a lovely fire place in the lobby which is perfect to sit beside while accessing the wifi (as there is no wifi in the room) :)
The staff throughout the hotel including those in the restaurant were very lovely.
And speaking of restaurant, the food there was great. The breakfast was continental and slightly basic but the dinner we ate there was delicious.
The hotel is located only about a 5-10 minute walk from the lake.

We stayed here for two nights in summer. The hotel is about twenty minutes walk from the train station. There is also a supermarket about ten minutes away. Guests should use the travel card issued by the hotel (need deposit) for free bus rides to various stops in the area. Once in the lower part of the town, one must walk around the lake at different times if the day to admire its beauty under different lighting conditions.

Free wifi is limited to the lobby area only so it is common to see guests huddled up around the table browsing the web and connecting with the rest of the world. There are two lifts so it is more convenient compare to other similar sized older hotels in the country.

We had our dinners in the hotel and the food was fine. Breakfast spread was also good.

I stayed here for 1 night and was part of a group tour. The hotel is far from the St. Moritz railway station. We were given a room on the 2nd floor, right next to the elevator. It did not have a great view, but the rooms on higher floors- I'm told- have great views. All rooms, I think, have a balcony, which is good. Furniture in the rooms is antique. Bathrooms are large and spacious. Bed was good and pillows were very good. Food in the restaurant was good and so was breakfast. Service was very, very good. The restaurant staff was very efficient and very quick. Location of the hotel is very good. I like this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on the higher floor offer a better view. Avoid rooms next to the elevator.

The room was on the 3rd floor a bit dingy but clean and the bed comfortable. Pillows were flat but more were supplied. All showers in Switzerland seem to be in a bath which can be awkward if you're older or disabled.
St Moritz was closed for the season, obviously no snow.
There is a pool but we didn't use it.
Can't comment on price we were with a tour group.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the mountains

Stayed for two days. Originally given a small room on the 1st floor next to the elevator (tight space in elevator). Asked for another one and got a 4th floor room that turned out to be bright and roomy with view of the mountains. The bathroom has new amenities and hair dryer. There're big rec area and swimming pool as well.

Hotel Baeren is a very simple hotel surrounded by all the splendor that is St. Moritz. The hotel is charming in its simplicity. The staff is welcoming and friendly; the rooms are simple and clean; and the hotel is located walking distance to the central town and the Coviglia ski lift. The hotel has a spa area which includes a small pool, a sauna, and a steam room. The pool and the steam room are always available, whereas the sauna is only available on select days. Since I was on a ski trip, I really appreciated the ski looker downstairs where I was able to keep my skis and boots (the are boot warmers in the locker downstairs). Also since everything in St. Moritz is super expensive, I really, really appreciated the ample breakfast the hotel provided. On most days, I was able to skip the high priced lunches on the mountains, as a result of filling-up on the breakfast provided at the hotel. All in all, the Hotel Baren, is very simple. It reminds me more of an inn than hotel, but for the services it provides, you cannot beat it prices in a town like St. Moritz.

The hotel is very clean, everyone in the front desk is extremely nice and helpful; the pool and sauna is amazing! breakfast is complimentary and there is always plenty to eat and choose from (cheeses, assorted fruits, breads, croissants, boiled eggs, cereals, assorted sandwich meats, yogurts, oatmeal) coffee, tea, orange juice, apple juice or water are the drinks of choice; you can put your ski equipment in your room or in a locker; you are across the street from the 2, 5, 6 bus that takes you to the mountain; if you happen to be out late partying you can substitute your room key for an outside door key
