Good:
-I saw this as part of my Bernina Express & Glacier Express & there is no better way to view Engadine, than by rail.
-Requires a guidebook in order for me to understand what I am seeing.
-One of Switzerland's greatest natural treasures.

The Engadine Valley in southern Switzerland is one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. It is a flooded valley, with rivers, lakes, islands, forests and castles that freezes in winter and turns into a winter wonderland. I visited in winter, so I can honestly say that the beauty of the valley is unbelievable in winter. The town (it is certainly not a village) of St. Moritz (or San Murezzan as it is called in the local language Ladin) is not a traditional alpine town. Far from it. It is a mixture of buildings with different architecture, from medieval towers, to modern steel and glass high rise buildings. So, it is not considered "beautiful". However, under a blanket of white snow, it is magically transformed to a place of special beauty. It is amazing what a little snow can achieve. Take a walk, or a horse and carriage ride on the frozen lake and you will understand what I mean. The view of St. Moritz from there is unforgetable. St. Moritz is expensive, but it is the place to spoil yourself. Ski in one of the three ski areas all day (Corviglia, Corvatsh, Diavolezza). Eat lunch on one of the numerous good mountain restaurants (like the Hossa hut). Then go for a relaxing spa in your hotel (most of them have one). In the evening go for a drink in the lobby of the iconic Badrutt Palace Hotel (suit and tie or evening dress compulsory after 8 p.m.) and choose from a selection of whiskies older than you or as rare as gold. Then later on, dance until you drop in one of the numerous night clubs next to famous actors, singers or super models. Does it get any better?

I visted when it was snowing and it looked simply magical, a true winter wonderland. Early in the morning the valley looks awesome with the early morning mist spread across the valley with the picturesque mountains surrounding. It really is the most beautiful place I had ever seen.

Mere words cannot describe the breathtaking beauty of the winter landscape. The frozen mountain lakes, soaring mountain peaks, draped in snow. Deep powder - I do not think skiing can be better anywhere else, spectacular! The slopes wide and excellent for skiing on all levels. It is VERY expensive but this one one of those places you have to see at least once in your life. Stay in an apartment, cook your own meals and your bank account might survive. All the people connect to the skiing scene are very friendly and helpful. Lots do do and see. Walk in the woods, feed birds or just sit and enjoy the wonder of nature.

It is really a nice region, nice landscapes and nature. Lots of things to do and see. The only problems are that due to the presence of many rich people the area is becoming increasling snob and expensive.
