Sometimes you come across a bargain, a 1 michelin star restaurant that is trying so hard, that it is actually a 2, it just isn't recognised yet, and you get better food and service at a relatively lower price. Arte is not it. Whilst some of the dishes on our four course menu were impressive, the restaurant lacked some important finishing touches that took the edge off the overall experience. No-one greeting you as you enter, embarrassing short wait before we noticed. Plates of fine food arrived, no explanation of the dish, just a bon appetite from the waiter as he walked away. Wine menu is not that extensive, but some excellent Swiss whites. No cheese trolley with wide variety of choices, just a preselected plate. Again, no explanation. Poor choice of desserts. Not a wide variety of ingredients used, am all for fresh seasonal produce, but 3 of my four dishes had spring onion and pea puree, thankfully it wasn't the dessert!
