We arrived by car and had a bit of a job finding the hotel even with our sat.nav. but were advised that this was not unusual. Parking is very streamlined and convenient in the hotel's computerised underground car park. Having unloaded the bags we required these were taken to our room and we said goodbye to our car not needing it again until it was time to leave, when the process was reversed and we were given a bottle of water for our journey as we said goodbye. The hotel lounge is large and comfortable with sweets cake and apples always on offer. Most welcome was the freely available tea and coffee when returning at any time of the day and night. Good to be able to sit down and relax after a busy day. There is also a well stocked bar available.
The staff at the hotel all speak excellent English and were most friendly and helpful. The hotel is in the pedestrian precinct in Lugano and surrounded by shops and restaurants with food being served until late at night which gave the place that buzz so familiar in lakeside towns.
There is plenty to see and do in the area and boat excursions on the lake are an ideal way to relax. There was a spectacular firework display across the lake which lasted for an hour while we were there and I would imagine the display planned for 1st August in Lugano would be something to see.
Our bedroom at the hotel was of the cheapest grade but very clean and well equipped with sufficient room an excellent bathroom with a shower cubicle and bidet. Being back from the lake a little there were no lake views but our room had a view of the distant hills above the rooftops and a quiet street below, all very pleasant. As mentioned in all reviews the breakfasts at this hotel are exceptional and I challenge even the fussiest eater to fail to find a variety of items which appeal to them. Our difficulty was to stop eating, the fresh fruit was particularly appreciated.
If I am allowed to have one small moan it would be over a service which the hotel provide. When returning to our room in the evening to shower before going out for dinner we always found our curtains drawn and every light in the room on. I appreciate that this does make the room look inviting but it is no hardship to switch your own and the power wasted on the lights when duplicated thoughout the hotel must be considerable.
Overall a very comfortable and welcoming hotel in an excellent position.
