“Good hotel”
Reviewed 3 December 2009

The hotel room (quite) was very good.
I was disappointed to see that there was no kitchennette in the room, tyhough it was mentioned on the website.
The room had an additional foldable double bed in the living area. The view from the balcony was great (lake facing).

The location is ok ok, not too great. The hotel is slightly on the top of a hill so walking back up is a hinderance if you dont like climbing; but getting taxis was never a problem.

Lugano is my favourite place to visit in Switzerland (and maybe one of my favourite in all Europe) and so I've visited many times and mostly stayed at hotels downtown or near downtown or at least easily accessible to downtown by bus (Dante, Eden, Du Lac etc). Parco Paradiso was a really nice, really clean and wonderful hotel, the only thing was that it isn't near anything. It's far from downtown, there's an infrequent bus that goes by the hotel, AND somehow Lugano taxis seemed to take even longer than usual to get there (the wait was always soooo long).
Apart from the location, everything else was really good. The spa was amazing, the food was really good, we had a really good view and a mini garden with a lawn, plants and patio area (complete with patio furniture) to ourselves. The room and facilities are great. The beds were comfortable (even the hideaway ones) and we were really able to spread out with our combination of indoor and outdoor spaces. Another friend stayed in a regular room which was also nice (though not as nice as the suites) and roomy and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful and thoroughly professional. Even though it was a little pricy, since we were a group, it was well worth it and more fun and comfortable and cost-effective than staying at Dante or anywhere else.

We really enjoyed our time there...having 3 children under 6 is a challenge anywhere we go; however this hotel accommodated us quite well. Large suite with a lake view, no charge for the children to eat (we had half-board), food was delicious. Room was clean and large as was the bathroom. Fun indoor pool, wellness center...will certainly go back next time we are in lugano!

We saw the hotel on internet and chose to call in to get some information. The reservation lady was very nice and explaned that on weekends (off season) there were nice special offers as the sunday roulette - at only 199.- you can get a suite room. (on your risk)
Anyway that was what hapened. The room was very nice and big. We had some champagne on the terrace which was very nice because of the nice weather and the great view on lugano. But later we went to the bar which was even nicer becaus there was music too. Smoker bar for cigars - nice ambiance!
staff everywhere very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed our stay very much!!

went to lugano for a weekend. I have been going to Lugano since I am a child and I used to know all parts of it. We went there without a reservation and checked the different options upon arrival. It was rather cold and grey just to underline that a lakeview could not have been totally appreciated. But even in off season fares were extremely high (450 CHF for a backside view) and then we found the hidden gem nestled in Paradiso, on the hillside with beautiful views of the scenery and lake. We stayed in a 45 sq suite with 2 rooms (that can accommodate 4 people so with our 4 years old daughter we had plenty of space), 1 bathroom and a huge balcony . Breakfast was included until noon and was delicious (pancakes, waffels, eggs cooked "minute"). Staff was very nice and helpful. Wellnesscenter with a small but beautiful indoor heated pool. 2 Restaurants in one: japanese and mediterranean. We tried the second one but it was average and rather expensive. The hotel offered a special very interesting rate for this last weekend before the start of the high season and we really appreciated our week-end.

My husband and I wered staying at a nearby hotel. We decided to try their Japanese restaurant, Tsukimi Tei. We were seated in the Italian restaurant since they couldn't find our reservation and we had some translation difficulties, we were then re-seated in the Tsukimi Tei area of the same restaurant. It served Bento Box and such like, the ventilation was bad, so the whole place smelt more like a grill bar. We waited around 40 minutes for our food to arrive, in between times asking for the water or some other drink that they'd forgotten. One of our meals should have come with sake, which I was looking forward to. It didn't arrive. We were losing the will to live even though we certainly weren't in a rush. Eventually the food arrived which was ok but well overpriced, and we were again neglected long after we'd finished. We had trouble getting the attention of one of the many passing waiters to ask for the dessert menu. There just seemed to be floating around with no purpose. We ordered dessert and coffees at the same time to be on the safe side. They forgot about our coffees. So we gave up and asked for the bill (coffees were on there of course). The tiramisu dessert was pretty nice but to be honest we were so hacked off by then that the whole meal was a right off. The hotel staff had a strange detached attitude so I was glad we were staying at the Hotel Eden in Lugano which was very friendly and welcoming.

Hotel is quite pleasant. Squash court - requires serious renovation. Not for serious games. Unfortunately, we were cheated there - we were charged double for our dinners, and there seems to be no way to get our money back. Apparently, it was our resposibility to realise that we may be charged double. We were very angry in the end.
