It is relatively clean for such an old hotel. The internet pics didn't match the reality; well they don't convey how old this hotel is. However, the staff where very nice, they provided a bed for our baby free of charge right on the spot although the reservation did not include that. The wifi was good (also free).

It has a nice cafe/bar at the ground floor, with a very special decoration: the theme of the interior design is music and musical instruments. When you see it, and taking into consideration how old the furniture is, you get the impression that it was designed in the sixties, and back then it was some how very futuristic and maybe special.

All in all, the stay wasn't bad. Nothing annoyed us during our stay. Would recommend it for someone who isn't fussy about details. One great advantage is the free parking.

We are happy to announce that the hotel Castel has opened its doors after a change of owner and manager as also after 4 months of complete renovation. The hotel disposes of 23 double rooms and 3 Junior Suite. They are all equipped of a private bathroom with shower, free Wifi access, cable TV, a minibar and a safe. You can also discover our bar / brasserie in a modern décor and our French restaurant with its splendid terrace.
On the first floor you can reserve a conference room for up to 30 persons.

We hope to be welcoming you soon in our new Hotel Castel and stay at your disposal for any further information.

It's what you can expect from a 3 star hotel. Decent, tidy rooms, a bit too warm due to the carpet + air conditioning. Breakfast is very good nontheless. A reasonable place to stay if you are to visit Sion for 1 day.

Stayed at this hotel situated in Sion, a very pretty town in canton of Valais for family business. The hotel is centrally located, well kept, have nice rooms and good parking space free. Unfortunately the staff is not so friendly! The Reception staff seemed bothered that guests came - not even a smile....Then the next morning at breakfast, the breakfast room was quite messy, so after waiting for a while, I started to look for clean table and brought the breakfast plates and crockery myself. Lo and behold, the breakfast lady came and almost bit my head as to my questions such as whether there are any more croissants available. She said that she cannot be everywhere at same time and started on long speech about how café next door (under hotel management also) have more clients, and gave impression that coming down for breakfast at 09.30a.m. is just bothering her (breakfast time until 10.0a.m.). I reminded her that breakfast finishes at 10.a.m. and so we should be able to have it. She shouted some more and left. After a long while she came with the cafe and milk with a look that can kill. Really a pity. The hotel is so nice, if only the management can find friendlier staff! Not a good publicity for Sion and Valais!
