Once I arrived to Zermatt, I thought i chose the wrong hotel because the distance between the hotel and Zermat center, But i was totally wrong. Matterhorn Focus is for sure a great hotel to stay in, great price and great service.

The cable car station is right next to the hotel, as well as the bus station which you can ride for free (if you have a ski pass).

The room was clean and fresh, floor to ceiling windows with balcony. They serve Only breakfast (No lunch or dinner at the restaurant) + some afternoon cakes and teas.

Zermatt center is very busy with people, bars and restaurants, I personally would not stay in a hotel right in the middle of the center. So I think Hotel Matterhorn Focus is the best hotel for location and value.

Walking to the center= 15 mins
By bus= 6 mins

I used to rate the Park Hyatt Tokyo (as featured in Lost in Translation) as the top hotel in the world. But move over! The Focus Matterhorn now takes top place!

The place itself is stunning. Think Monocle and Tyler Brûlé and you won't go far wrong. Add to that superb views out over the snow capped peaks and it all gets a bit superlative.

We stayed in a family room. It was a suite consisting of a large bedroom and an even larger sitting room. There was a private balcony off each of the rooms with views over to the Matterhorn. Lovely to wake up to the view every morning.

The kids bedroom was a curtained off portion of the sitting room. So... a door and a curtain between you and the kids. It really works. It is a proper family room. Both kids and parents can sleep properly. If you travel with family you will know how rare this kind of thing is.

Plus other little things that I really liked. No minibars (thank god for one less commercial intrusion into my life). Wooden coat hangers you can take out of the wardrobe. Childrens coat hangers. Books to read in English, German and for adults and children. Friendly normal people working there rather than the faceless drones you often get in ultra-luxe hotels. Croissants better than the ones you get in France.

We just returned from a lovely stay at the Hotel Matterhorn Focus; great architecture, interior design, attention to detail and a small but perfectly fromed wellness area made our stay really special. Mr and Mrs Noti have managed to create a cool hotel with a warm heart - bravo! We enjoyed botht the Dufour and Matterhorn suites, which had views of the Matterhorn from the bathtub (and everywhere else)!

We drove into Zermatt from Milan. The scenery along the route was breath-taking and certainly set the stage for what was to come once we got to Zermatt. FYI drivers, you have to park your car in Tasche, the town closest to Zermatt. From there, you can take a taxi (about €30) to Zermatt or you can take the train for a fraction of the price. Unfortunately, we did not know that the latter was an option so we coughed up the cash for the taxi.

Upon arrival at the base of Zermatt, we were promptly met by the electric vehicle belonging to the Matterhorn Focus. I would recommend calling the hotel from Tasche to ensure that they are there when you arrive. Our suitcases were taken away to the room and we greeted by the owner of the hotel and provided with welcome drinks in their lounge. We were then taken to our room.

The room was modern and very comfortable with remote controlled windows and skylights! But the best part, hands down, was the bathroom. The shower was to die for!

Other amenities of note was the spa. The sauna, oxygen room and saline bath were all included in the price of the room. The indoor/outdoor pool was great, although water temperature was not as warm as I would've liked. The hotel did provide breakfast and there was a quite a variety from bacon and eggs to swiss cereals and fruit. The staff were awesome. My only minor complaint was that I could hear some noise from the hallway, while in my room but to reiterate, very minor.

Overall, this hotel was just incredible. The location is perfect, 2 minutes from the cable car station and maybe 10 mins walk to the "busy" area of town. In fact the whole town is right out of a fairy tale and I can't wait to go back. When I do, I will definitely stay at the Focus again.

Warm, attentive service from the owners, Sonja and Christian , starting with the champagne on arrival through to the a farewell gift of goodies from the local bakery.

Our room was in the renovated part of the hotel: the room was well appointed and spacious and in keeping with the Heinz Julen design and architectural style of the rest of the hotel.

Perfect location: 50 metres from the gondola and a 10 minute walk to the centre of town.

The common areas of the hotel are beautiful: a cosy bar with fireplace and a beautiful spacious breakfast area. Best of all was the indoor / outdoor pool: a perfect way to chill out after a hard day's skiing.

The hotel has been criticised in some quarters for not having a restaurant: with such a wealth of great restaurants in Zermatt, we didn't find this a problem at all.

Hard to fault this hotel: will stay here on our next visit to Zermatt.

Great hotel, kids friendly staff and great personal touches. We stayed in a family room. There was welcoming chocolates, drinks and activities for the kids. The kids had their size robes and slippers. Great rooms, fantastic view of the Matterhorn and next to the ski lift. Breakfast buffet was very good too. In the evening the Spa facilities and indoor/ outdoor pool was fantastic, with snow lying around it! Highly recommended.

Group of 8 staying for 4 nights. We found this hotel to reach all expectations. Not cheap but
well worth the extra cost to be given the personal service of the owners and friendly service of the staff. We found the location to be excellent due to the closeness to the lifts. A brisk walk to the centre of town was not a worry. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for first class accommodation with very friendly, personal, service.
Cheers.
