Everyone says it so it much be true !-) This property is very well located in Zermatt, the local ski buses, should you need them, stop outside the hotel and it's a short (5min in boots) walk to Sunnega ski lift.
The 'hotel' itself is basic. You get a 'cosy' room and if your not unlucky a view of the matterhorn [we had 1st floor room 5 the one with the triangular bathroom] which is a real treat. Food was OK+ but the dining area was a little cramped and there was no other public area available. We were concerned about security as the building was empty for most of the day and the front door was occasionally left unlocked. However the hosts said they never had any issues. Speaking of the hosts, two lovely lads George and Peter absolutely nothing wrong with them that a decent Swiss watch and a hair cut wouldn't sort out ;-) They kept the place tidy and made the beds daily. Skiworld rep Emma was full of bubbles and did a very decent job including the day she lead a group over to Italy.
I've only been to about 7 ski resorts (USA, Canada, France, Austria) before Zermatt but imho Zermatt equals or surpasses the best of them as a resort town and a ski area. It is more expensive but well worth a visit. I've rated the 'hotel' as very good not so much for it's facilities but for it's location and value for money.
Special mentions to Alistair of SkiClub UK who made us very welcome and gave us two great days of touring the mountains. Also to the ski rental shop at the Sunnega station (http://www.flexrent.ch) we rented our skis there and stored our boots and skis each night. Very helpful and obliging guys.
