“Wonderful family run hotel”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Our family spent only one night in two rooms, at this wonderful family run hotel. There are actually two hotels joined together here, one is the older original building, and the newer addition. Both sections (hotels) are very well maintained, in very nice Swiss style and quality. All the staff were very friendly and helpful here and even arranged our transport to and from the central station. The rooms on the upper floors have better views of the mountains. The hotel severs and excellent, and very healthy breakfast in a glass walled room, where you can enjoy your breakfast and great views of the mountains and surrounding garden at the same time. Compared to other hotels in Zermatt, this one is quite a good value. We would highly recommend this hotel, and hope to return there someday.

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floors have better views, but keep in mind that there are no elevators here, so y...

This 25-room hotel met our needs perfectly. Zermatt's main street is quite busy with many pedestrians and the little electric vehicles all the time. We were pleased that the hotel is a few streets away from that on a nice quiet road. We walked from the train station using a map we picked up at the tourist office and found the hotel easily.

The room was very large by European standards and even had a couch. The large windows and balcony had views of the Matterhorn (when not shrouded by clouds). Beds were comfortable and I appreciated the large sink and heated towel racks which helped me do a little mid-trip laundry ;)

The only minor negative was the fact that the wifi was weak. It worked well if you stood by the door but otherwise the signal was poor. All in all, a minor complaint for an overall lovely experience.

Find a good and cheap hotel in zermatt is not easy. This one is really what you need to stay relaxed. we were in a room with the outstanding view of Cervino. You have free entry to the spa in a nearby hotel.
breakfast is amazing and you can even bring some bread for later.
I will come back in this hotel for sure: clean, cheap, nice and lovely.

Room Tip: Choose the "Matterhorn view" room

We stayed at Hotel Dufour Zermatt for the first part of our honeymoon. We were through the roof satisfied with our stay. We loved that this hotel was family owned and run. The entire family spoke perfect English, along with the multiple other languages we hear them speaking fluently. They were friendly in suggesting things to do and places to eat. We were given a beautiful, clean room with an amazing view of the Matterhorn. Their breakfast spread was the most fantastic I've ever had anywhere. They had some of the most delicious cheese and what seemed to be homemade jam. Yum! If we were to go back to Zermatt we would stay at Hotel Dufour Zermatt without question!

When our family first arrived at this beautiful old building, the kids were straight onto their beautiful, if not alpine, mini golf course. The room was very spacious and had a traditional balcony with the flowing lining the edge. After a beautiful night sleep, we made our way down to the breakfast room where we could have our Continental Breakfast sitting right next to a HUGE window looking straight at the Matterhorn. After our stay I wanted to call the Zermatt Hotel Board and see if they could change this hotel from two stars, to four or five. The staff were beautiful, friendly and spoke good English. I highly recommend this family owned hotel over the big, International Standard hotels you funded in Zermatt.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Dufour when we were in Zermatt for our honeymoon. We have only good things to say about the place. The room was large by European standards. Everything was kept very clean and neat. Each room has a balcony that has a spectacular view of the Matterhorn (when visible). The room also contained the most reasonably priced minibar I have ever comer across in my travels. Breakfast was served daily and was very good - the croissants were excellent. The best part was the very friendly and accommodating staff that helped us with our travel needs.
