Description: The sizzling “holzfeuer” is the centrepiece of Le Gitan, creating an immediate warm and welcoming atmosphere at the forefront of the restaurant. You can wet your appetite by watching all the action from your table; our chef prepares all our grills over the wood fire. Specialities include lamb, prawns, beef and spit-roasted chicken tarragon.

This good grill located in the village is famous for its beef filet skewers, it has as well a very good lamb, and a tasty goat cheese salad. The celery soup was ok. Ask for a table by the chimney but not too close.

Excellent food, the grill is tremendous for fish, beef, lamb or veal. Beautifully cooked and a great wood fired flavor. Nothing is cheap in zermatt, but this really felt worth the money. Very friendly service and really tasty food. Ate there three times this trip and would go back again.

We were very disappointed with Le Gitan Grill. It was overpriced and the food was just ok. I unfortunately would not recommend going here.

Located in center of town, this place is pure joy. Very lively and fun, but also cozy and initmate as well. Dimly lit, but also family friendly. Pure Zermatt, but not over-the-top Swiss either. Not sure how they pull all of this off, but it's magic. It's the only place we went twice during our ten-day trip.

Menu is a mix of European, with focus on grilled meat. They have an open-flame grill which sends out these primeval meat aromas that really get the saliva going. They also do good fish. Great wine list that tempts you to splurge. One great wrinkle is that the waiters go around with a big pan of potato gratin which they serve at no charge. There's nothing better than sitting in your cozy haven of a table after a long day of skiing, drinking good Italian wine, chowing down on a bloody rare slice of roast leg of lamb straight from the open-flame, with your waiter dumping mountains of potato gratin on your plate.

This is my second time in this typical restaurant, last time was 4 years ago.

The Kaese Fondute is the best dish and is exceptional
