“Simply Amazing”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

Went to Zermatt during mid May for enjoying the snow (yes there is still winter quality skiing/snowboarding even in May on the glacier at Zermatt). Staying at Casa Vanessa is a highly recommended location, due to the close distance to walk to the Gondola station at the Matterhorn Express, which is <200m away; very easy.

The hotel itself is a quintessentially Swiss building, with lots of natural timber and that Swiss village feel, inside and out. The rooms are excellent, and the photos on their website do not really do the luxurious feel justice; it is very clean and well set up with generous sized rooms.

The owner kindly provided a complimentary upgrade (low season) and the view from the room looked up to the ski resort and down towards the village.

The only missing element was no breakfast option; it is about 15min to walk to the far end of the village where there is a supermarket so that's easy to get around. They do provide a full kitchen, TV (no English channels though) and so life is pretty good.

Highly recommended. Zermatt is not cheap for anything, but Casa Vanessa is pretty well priced for what it offers. Free wifi in room also!

I recommend to ask for a higher floor room, they have nicer views (I suspect).

Room Tip: upper floor for a good view.....

We are staying at Casa Vanessa I Dec. 22-29. It is a great place for me, my husband and our 12 year old daughter in that it is an easy and pleasant walk to the center of Zermatt (5 minutes), quiet in the evening, great for cooking in on the nights that we are too tired to go out to eat, and includes a nice breakfast each morning. The bathroom is large and modern with a superb shower/tub. Beds are comfortable and the kitchen, while compact, is fully stocked with everything you'll need, including a dishwasher. The apartment is clean, fresh and tidy. I wish we would have booked a unit with a small fireplace but will do so on our next visit. Zermatt is charming and magical. Truly a winter wonderland and a great place to spend the Christmas holiday.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a fireplace. All have private balconies.

We have stayed at this hotel for a number of seasons. Nice rooms (room 406 if you want a 3 bedroom one is tiptop) - always clean- a breakfast to fill your stomack till level " happy" and a a totally convenient location a few hundred meters from the Kleine Mtterhorn system. A but in all this ? .Sometimes we have arrived at the same time as the " German invasion" as we call it...and then breakfast can become a bit of a stress element as they are many and demand attention

Room Tip: The new building is lovely, room 406 THE choice if your travel in a larger group

Hotel is clean, comfortable and spacious. Great views of the river and mountains with 2 balconies - one off the living room and one off the master bedroom. Perfect location to watch the sheep and herders pass thru the streets in the early evening.

Quiet location away from the main "town" and closer to the gondolas and mountains.

Nice kitchenette with an addictively delicious nespresso maker. Bathroom was large and nicely appointed with a rainfall shower head (and great water pressure!) Laundry facilities are available in the common area.

Casa Vanessa is to be reached through a tunnel in the rock and an elevator, our apartment on the 3rd floor enjoyed a wonderfull view onto Zermatt village and the surrounding mountains. It is 5 min away from the cable car that takes you to Klein Matterhorn and 8 min away from Zermatt village centre. The appartment was nicely decorated with big windows and a large balcony, perfect for zipping a morning coffee or evening glass of wine. I think you can book with or without hotel service. We did without, which for 4 days is perfectly fine. The kitchen is well equipped and has enough tools and panes to cook nice meals and save money from restaurants. There is even a Nespresso machines with "kapseln" available from reception. The sound from the downward river is pleasant and present. Overall I really recommend this place!

I stayed in this apparthotel in June, 2010. It was absolutely wonderful. The hotel is modern with astonishing view, in a high neighborhood of Zermatt . I got the room with 2 beds. It was very clean, comfortable, with soft blankets, clean and large bathroom with tub and very hot water. The furniture is also new. The attendance is very helpful and friendly.

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Vanessa. Zermatt is a beautiful village and the view from the room was great. The room was large enough . The pre-trip email correspondence was very prompt and courteous ( by the owner Norbert). The elevator was being serviced when we checked out and the owners and staff helped us with the steep descent with our luggage.

The one thing that would have been better is leveraging local information even that Zermatt is a tiny place. The hotel staff member kept referring us to the local information booth at the railway station ( 1 km away).
