My daughter and I loved our stay at the Hotel Butterfly! Perfect location - a very quiet hotel but just a quick walk to the train station. Room was beautifully decorated with a wonderful bathroom. The women at the reception desk couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. We would definitely stay here again!

We stayed two nights at the Best Western Hotel Butterfly and were very pleased with the accommodations, the helpfulness of the staff, the room, breakfast offered and the meals we had at their restaurant for dinner. Close to the train station, they provide a driver to come pick you up(but it's just a short walk to the hotel). The colorful flower boxes make the hotel very inviting. The room was very nice. Off the main street, it is a quite location. I would most definitely recommend staying at this hotel during a stay in Zermatt. And, make sure you travel to the Gornegrat and HIKE down some of the mountain-what a wonderful experience!

Finished our Haute Route here and stayed 3 nights/2 rooms. The hotel is in a great location, close to station but quiet. Rooms were excellent and facilities very good indeed.Staff exceptionally helpful. Our experience of Best Western has been good across a number of European cities and this enhanced it further. Good value and thoroughly recommended

Superb. The service at this hotel is second to none. The staff speak several languages. They listen and try to provide what you want or need.

It is a very convenient location - just round the corner from the shops, main railway station, Gornergrat mountain railway station and the free bus stop.( three minutes walk). In Zermatt terms it is almost a flat walk to the hotel from the town - in Britain we would say it was up a very slight rise. It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk to the Rothorn funicular (quite a gentle walk) and about 15-25 minutes to walk to the Klein Matterhorn gondola. (short steep hills on this). The free bus connects them all.

The hotel building is Swiss chalet in style, interesting and pleasing inside. In August the balconies have red geraniums. The dining rooms are very pleasant and there is a comfortable lounge area too. When we were there a huge basket of walnuts, with nutcrackers, were provided for the guests.

The food is superb in quality and choice. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a choice suitable for all nationalities. The evening meals had a good menu, were beautifully cooked from fresh ingredients and the meals were so large that we could not get through all five courses.

Our room was very pleasant and clean and had it's own balcony. The bathroom was clean and had the facitlites we expected in a 3 star hotel. I would have liked a kettle and tea/coffee making facilites but I think they are rarely provided in Switzerland.

Most of the staff have worked there for a long time and alot of the guests were people who had stayed there many times before. That tells you a lot about the hotel.

My only concern was that our fire escape involved going down three ladders through the balconies to the ground. I think we would have managed it and it may be that only active people are put in these rooms. If you feel you couldn't manage that it might be as well to check out your room location before booking.

Stayed for seven nights half board through Inghams. The hotel is located only a few minutes walk from Zermatt railway station. When we arrived with our luggage we were met by a member of hotel staff with the electric vehicle. This service was also provided on our return to the station.

The hotel is run by a fairly small number of staff who are all very pleasent and happy to please. All staff seamed to speak several languages including English, French and German.
The breakfast was a buffet which consisted of cereal, bread or toast, jams, yoghurts, cheeses.
The evening meal was five courses on a set menu but courses could be changed or altered from the menu. The staff were very happy to ammend the menu dependant on personal choice. All the main courses were meat, that we were offered, but as they changed the fish for us to chicken then they probably could do a vegetarian option. All the food was fresly made and was of a very high standaard. The service was very quick between courses.

As a bonus because we'd booked through Inghams we were provided with a packed lunch (two sandwiches - one meat, one cheese, a peice of friut and a cake bar.) This saved us a lot of money over a week.

The hotel is in a wonderfull location on a quiet side street just steps from the main street - Bahnhofstrasse, the railway station and the Gornagrat Bahn (railway) which is opposite the main railway station. All rooms in the hotel have a balcony. Our room had views to Riffelberg which is on the Gornergrat Bahn and to Matterhorn Glacier Palace but there is no view of the Matterhorn from the hotel at all - the hill is in the way.

Zermatt is a quiet place with no car access only electric vehicles. These are electric therefore they are quiet and can not always be heard when walking along the streets. Zermatt is busy during the day because a lot of visitors are only day visitors. In an evening there are a lot less people walking around. A large amount of central Zermatt is relatively flat, especially the walks along the side of the river.

We bought the Peak Pass which gives unlimited access, for the length of the pass that has been purchased, to Gornagrat Bahn, Matterhorn glacier paradise, Rothorn paradise,Schwarzsee paradise, Sunegga Paradise, the red and green buses and it covered the train, along the valley, only as far as Randa. The pass is available for between 3 and 14 days, 21 days or 1 month. I recommend the Peak Pass especially if staying for more than a few days, planning on doing a lot of walking or likely to go up the lifts and train more than once. The pass can be bought from any of the bottom stations in Zermatt.

I would recommend the hotel and would stay there again. I have not found a downside to the hotel.

This was the last hotel we stayed at on our three centre holiday in Switzerland and we thought it was a gem. Excellent hospitality, service and position. The food was far superior than 3*.
We thought Zermatt was wonderful with the Matterhorn dominating everything and we will definitely go back to the Butterfly and Zermatt.
The downside of Switzerland is the cost of everything, but it was still worth it and you cannot blame them that our £ is such poor value abroad.
