It was our third time in Alpen Resort. We love Zermatt.
It's a nice hotel with a warm welcome. Hotelowner Inge is very friendly en genuallly interested in the wellbeing off her guests. Big room and the food was very good.
Price/Quality, this is a very fine hotel. Maybe it needs in the future a modern touch but the sons are finding their way in and will certainly make the necessary adjustments.
We certainly will be back at Alpen Resort.

My 4.5 year old son and myself decided to take a long weekend to Zermatt from Sweden. As it was our first time in Zermatt we did not have a great knowledge of the size of the town and the distance to the slopes.

We will for sure stay at Best Western Alpen Resort the next time we travel to Zermatt because of the hospitality and the kid friendly environment.

My husband and I stayed a week at the Alpen Resort with a group of approximately 30 skiers from Canada. The rooms are a good size and the beds are comfortable. The location is a bit out of the main shopping, eating, and ski rental part of town. There is a shuttle that stops close to the hotel which I recommend taking to get to the lifts. The breakfast buffet is good and there are lots of choices. The breakfast room is very nice. Because we were a big group our menu was set for dinner. Some of the dinners were "okay to good" and some, not so good. It is not 5 star dining by any stretch. They have a small "lounge" type area in the main lobby of the hotel. We enjoyed drinks and karaoke and dancing and making lots of noisy late into the night. I would stay here again.

Our seventh consecutive year at Alpen Resort with next season already booked. The statistic speaks for itself.
The overwhelming reason for returning to Alpen Resort year after year is the relaxed, friendly atmosphere created by the owners, the management and the attentive staff.
Fabulous Matterhorn views combined with a peaceful location.
The rooms are very well-appointed, large (have you ever skied in France?), clean and comfortable.
5-course dinners every evening and Bucks Fizz with breakfast if you so desire.
Facilities? Swimming pool, spa, sauna, steamroom and gym. In-house masseuse. Heated skiboot rack.
Service? Need a lift to the Klein Matterhorn area? Reception will arrange a taxi free of charge.
What's not to like? Book it. You will not be disappointed.

I was with a tour group & stayed for 2 nights. This hotel fell well short of my preconcieved ideas of staying in a hotel in Zermatt. We arrived after the agreed checkin time, however the rooms we're not ready, and when our very polite tour guide asked for a time estimate, the woman who appeared to be the manager gave him a rude response.

There are very different levels of accommodation. Some of our group stayed in elevated rooms with breathtaking views of the Matterhorn, whereas I & others were sent to the Dungeon rooms located underneath the tennis courts. The rooms were very dark with very poor lighting. I unpluged a lamp stand in the room and kept it in the bathroom during my stay to compensate for the poor light. Breakfast was fine.

It was also out of town a little, which meant a 5 minute walk to get into the main part of Zermatt where the restaurants were.

If I were to stay in Zermatt again, I'd stay somewhere closer to the main area, and no doubt pay more for the privilege.

Room Tip: Book a room with Matterhorn view.
