Of course Mont Cervin is located in one of the most beautiful places in the world and the village is simply fascinating. Quaint yet modern and accommodating. This hotel is in every way a world class hotel in every sense of the idea of world class.

Our stay at the Mont Cervin Place was marred by an illness my wife contracted while in Zermatt. But the hotel staff responded in extraordinary ways! First, at the last minute it was necessary for us to extend our stay by one night in order to facilitate my wife's partial recovery. This was not an easy task since the hotel was booked. Reception took on the challenge and not only found us a room for the night but arranged for us to stay in the room we had. This task was done with a determination to solve the problem and a great attitude.

The Concierge desk provided terrific support, going to that pharmacy for us, providing invaluable information and going the extra mile multiple times. Again, all with a superb attitude.

We have literally traveled the world, staying at many of the world's finest hotels, but never have we experienced such personalized and superb service as we received at the Mont Cervin. I wish to personally thank the hotel staff for their help and to assure others that this type of service does not appear limited to our experience but is an integral part of the service the staff of the Mont Cervin provides. We have been to Zermatt several times before but never stayed at Mont Cervin. We will not stay at any other hotel in Zermatt on future trips.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Matterhorn. The Hotel is located where such a view is magnificent...

From the moment my wife and I stepped off the train and were taken to the hotel in a horse drawn carriage and returned back three days later, we thought we were in heaven.

The Cervin is perfectly situated in the village of Zermatt. You could not ask for a better location within Zermatt. The hotel is close to restaurants, attractions, and shops (if you dare). We were given an upgrade, a gorgeous suite with a baloney, overlooking the Matterhorn. What a delightful it was to see the Matterhorn each morning when we awoke. All the front desk personnel, the concierge, and the restaurant staff were extremely helpful, professional, and FRIENDLY. The hotel knew I was celebrating a big number birthday and they really rolled out the red carpet for me. I could not have felt more welcomed and appreciated.

We had dinner in their Grill Restaurant on my b-day and the food was well prepared, fresh, and most of all tasty. The restaurant staff were all great.

Let's be realistic here. Switzerland is by American standards an expensive to visit. But the Hotel Mont Cervin Palace does give real value for the money. I can't say that about too many Swiss hotels. The Cervin has great rooms, views, food, and most of all service. Yes, I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Room facing the Matterhorn is a must.

Having made four trips to this beautyful country and ski area I may run out of room trying to describe my experiences. Arriving at the Mont Cervin in winter time you are met by hotel staff at the train station (no cars are allowed in Zermatt) with a large sleigh pulled by two very large Percherins (sp). In summer you are greeted by the same horses but pulling a coach this time. The hotel is well deserving of its 5 star rating. The food is absolutely perfect. Everything we tried was very very good. Service was the best we have experienced anywhere in our travels. The wine list is endless with fine vintages and years. During one visit and avalanch closed the train route into Zermatt. We needed to get from Zermatt to Brig to meet our train to Zurich. The Concerege somehow arranged for a helicopter to pick us up in Zermatt and fly us past the avalanch area where an arranged Taxi met us and whisked us to Brig in time to make all of our connections. Noe; the helicopter had to make a separate trip for our luggage and ski equipment. Some ski equipment was left with the hotel as we were returning next year. A must stay if you are going to Zermatt

Room Tip: Room with a Matterhorn View.

Good to know:
You've heard all the stories about the electric cars, because no gas-powered cars are allowed. Very nice. The town has a village feel to it. Keep in mind, Zermatt is not a purpose-built ski resort (unlike Vail). It was a mining town.

Helpful hints:
* Do your research on restaurants you want to visit and make reservations a week before you get there.
* Book your train ride (presumably from Zurich) on-line!! Much more convenient and cheaper.
* Spring for the extra $ and get 1st class train tics.. Well worth it and besides, you are staying in one of the best hotels you'll ever visit.
* If you are going to get ski pass insurance MAKE sure that if you get hurt, call ski patrol. I didn't and despite having broken my shoulder, I could not get my money back for remaining day's passes or have doctor's visit covered... which was the sole reason for the INSURANCE in the first place.
* Get the concierge to book a 30 minute helicopter ride with the Zermat search and rescue choppers.. Stunning views of the Matterhorn and the rest of the Swiss Alps. Well worth the money.

Upon arrival to the town, the cab drivers were helpful in pointing out where to go to catch the hotel shuttle. It's like an electric tiny, mini van. It's about a 2-3 minute walk from train to the hotel shuttle.

The hotel service was second to none. I broke my shoulder on my first day of skiing and they walked me over to the doctors office, gave me a "we're really sorry" gift in our room, tried to get my money back from the ticket counter next door.

Another thing that clearly stood out above any hotel I've EVER visited is the spa. Unbelievable and we're not the type to hang out in spas all day, but we made it a point to spend a few hours there each and every day. Nice indoor/outdoor pool with various "stations", then off to the sauna "facilities. 4 different sauna rooms, amazing showers, private bathrooms, foot bath, etc. Oh, and it's clothing optional, typical for that part of the world.

Room Tip: It's a double-edged sword. On one hand, you can request a room with a view of the Matterhorn...

Would not stay anywhere else is Zermatt! Planned a 5 day ski trip mad my husband broke his shoulder on the slopes the first day. Hotel even sent up chocolates wishing him get well soon! Just one example of the extra effort staff showed to ensure each guest feels special.

Our room was nice but the appointment more Alpine style vs the more contemporary decor the online photos depicted. Not an issue just a preference in style.

The spa was by far the best we've experienced in Europe! It is huge and the use included if you are a hotel guest. We spent at least two hours each day after skiing, esp as my husband skied with a broken shoulder. The pool has an indoor/outdoor configuration with multiple jets and hot tub zones. The wet and dry saunas were large, well kept and very clean.

We had an amazing trip and highly recommend the hotel.
