Five of us had been trekking for 10 days on the Haute Route, Chaminox, France to Zermatt, Switzerland. Staying at this place at the end of such a fabulous trek was an amazing swan song to a terrific adventure. This place was the best in every way. It was pretty spendy but, if you've been in Switzerland for any time, you realize this is no place to vacation if you want to save money. It was about $250/US per night, as I recall. There is another, more expensive option, that includes dinner. While we didn't use this option, the food at the restaurant was exceptional and it would be a great option. There was a fabulous morning brunch included in the price. The rooms were typically smaller than their American counterpart (bigger is always better in America, it seems) but were very nice, clean and functional. There was a great spa downstairs with steam; suauna; pool; showers and a small, relaxing room for......well, relaxing. The staff was great. Everything about this place is 1st class and, if I ever were to come to Zermatt again, I would definitely stay at this stellar retreat. It's very central but pretty quiet. Zermatt is a great town and this is THE place to stay

We have stayed in a number of hotels in Zermatt on short breaks, from the uber boutique to a pleasant 3 star. They are all great in their own way, but the Europe is now my new favourite. It's not the most designer compared with some in the resort, but it is still very stylish, modern, with added cosiness-a lovely combination. We had a room in the old hotel with a side balcony. (The photos of the new rooms In the extension look gorgeous). The room was spacious with a comfy bed and a good sized bathtub. The only criticism is that it was very warm, and hard to get cool enough even with the radiators off and the windows ajar.
The bar is lovely, welcoming and was a really nice place to hang out for a drink, with very friendly service from the lovely Dutch girl who spoke impeccable English (maybe as her hubby is English!). Some hotel bars can feel sterile, but this one is somewhere you do want to hang out.
We used the spa. The hot tub (well, it's more than a hot tub) was great and the whole area was a pleasant place to chill (though bear in mind the occupants of the sauna and steam room area are inclined to strip off completely Scandinavian style, hence under 16s not allowed in to that bit).
We did eat in the restaurant one evening and the food was very nice, and not too overwhelming. Breakfast was also excellent, with a fun cook your own option on the wonderful old range.
Location is also excellent, not far from the bridge at the top end of town.

Just booked my fifth visit to this wonderful hotel in beautiful Zermatt for March 2014. As my booking is confirmed I will happily say the hotel is lovely, the family and staff are all very nice, Alan provides a fantastic evening meal. A great place to be and relax. All areas of this hotel are lovely, the spa, bar, lounge and rooms. A nice walk can be taken after the evening meal on the quite road outside the hotel, which has great views over Zermatt Village. I can't wait to be there for my Snow Boarding holiday.

Room Tip: We (Myself and daughter) stay in the traditional building with views of the matterhorn. Very lovely.

The Europe Hotel & Spa was great. We had a wonderful view of the Matterhorn from our room. All of the hotel's staff were very friendly and helpful. The meals were great. The hotel had a very relaxing and welcoming feel to it. And after two weeks of hiking, the spa was wonderful!!

We traveled to Zermatt to take the Glacier Express, we stayed at Hotel Europe, and were very pleased. Everything in our room was spotless and very comfortable. The decor was amazing throughout the hotel, and the staff was friendly and very helpful. The view from our room was of the Matterhorn, and it was breathtaking.
We can't wait to return and spend more time in Zermatt and also at Hotel Europe!

We traveled for a short trip only - unfortunately - and booked into this hotel rather by coincidence. What an utter surprise! The rooms in the new part are bright, lovely decorated and rather hip, while ours, in the old part, are more traditional but very very cozy. The staff is extremely friendly, and nothing ever seems a problem.
Too add is that we've had a glorious breakfast. Pure luxury, pure heaven. I'm not usually too much of a breakfast person, but here... oh dear, beam me back! The only point I'd like to make is please remove those ugly mini garbage bins from the table. They don't fit the style of the hotel.

Room Tip: Try to book a room in the new part. Although I liked the old part, just the atmosphere in the new bi...
