“Very Lovely Stay - Highly Reccommended”
Reviewed 15 April 2009

We just returned from a very lovely stay. We normally stay at the Alpenhof (owned by the same family), and the Mirabeau was such a pleasure. The rooms are wonderfully modern. Great ambience. We had 2 rooms, one had an view of the Matterhorn and the other was quite larger, but with no view. The service, the staff, the food was all excellent. The owners really added some extra special touches that made our stay a memorable one. They are really lovely and take the time to get to know all of the guests. Each night the restaurant served a different menu. One night there was a wonderful Salmon Buffet, another night there was a dessert buffet (yummy) and on our last night there was a raclette night with a delightful dried beef assortment. Really delicious. Half board highly recommended. One of the nights we had dinner in the Gourmand restaurant, a wonderful experience. Since it was Easter weekend, we had a special surprise, a chocolate bunny was left for all the children staying at the hotel, so cute, they were left outside the door. Such a treat when they woke up the next morning. Having all 4 kids with us, staying at the Mirabeau was a restful, peaceful stay.
When leaving we were given a wonderful Swiss dark bread as a thank you for staying. We highly recommend this Hotel. You will not regret your stay.

The Junior Suite in the Residence was spacious - touches include gowns, slippers. The
towels changed twice a day and bed turned down in the evening. Spa facilities exellent although a little daunting as it is Naked Area. Treatments taken were all first class and there is a good range to choose from. Josefs Wine Bar is an excellent place to relax before and after dinner. The Restaurant was excellent - the food could not be faulted - great choice and the staff friendly and attentive. We would definately visit again. One negative comment was the pool area which is shared with another hotel and has not been refurbished as with all other areas of this excellent family run hotel

We've just come back from a week's skiing in Zermatt where we stayed at the Hotel Mirabeau. We were in the hotel part, rather than the residence and I absolutely loved it. Fabulous view of the Matterhorn from our room - which was squeaky clean and well decorated - albeit quite sparse - don't stay here if you like the cosy quaint alpine style. It is ultra modern and the little expensive touches down to the bath taps really made it feel special. My husband had a few gripes. You can see where the renovation money has been spent and where perhaps a bit more could be done. The (flat screen) TV in our room didn't work properly. The pool (shared with another hotel) is big, freezing and needs some money spent on it. Also the basement connecting through to the spa is a bit shabby for an ultra modern hotel. However overall the experience was great, as was the food and bar areas (x2).

Top tip - the spa is a nude spa but don't be put off - we wore towels being English prudes and felt very comfortable!

We are really pleased to the hotel owners and staff, we, a just married couple who love ski and the mountains, spent a great and romantic stay there. They speak several language, Spanish also!!!.

The hotel restaurant is magnific a mix of noveau cousine and alpine with influences from france, italy and germany, the wine menu quite enough (the staff use the proper glass for each type of wine). Remark the views of Matterhorn from the restaurant. Furthermore, they have another separate restaurant, which is incredible and delicious, and at least it worths 1 star michellin called"Corbeau d´Or".

The room we were based was a junior suite, the space is more than you really need and it was lovelly and wordenfull. The bathroom modern. The room is cleaned twice a day.

The alpine refuge (SPA) includes severall atractions such as sauna and others, it is a bit busy at peak times but it is open all day so fell free to schedule your own timetable.

It is necessary 5 minutes walking to the ski lifts, but it is for all Zermatt hotels.

We strongly recomend this hotel and we would repeat if we came back to Zermatt, it could be easily a 5 Stars hotel indeed.

Stayed for 2 nights in Dec 08 - great experience at Mirabeau Hotel

Pluses:
1) Beautiful and comfortable room... nice bathroom, strong shower

2) Very friendly staff... especially the reception staff who helped us check-in (couldn't recall her name). Helped us sort out all our needs including getting a ski instructor, and arranging the ski pass for us.
During check-in, I accidentally dropped a EUR100 note near the reception counter. And she actually came up to our room few minutes later and asked us if we have dropped any money - very honest staff!!!

3) Nice food - both breakfast and dinner (we had half-board) were fantastic

Minuses:
1) My stay was too short!!!

Spent Xmas week there and it was absolutely perfect!

The staff, service, food, location, facilities and rooms are all superb. One of the best weeks holidays we have ever had. The rooms are well presented ( we only had a basic room as booked late) the beds are really comfy, the bathrooms and toiletries are good and the ski locker room had heaters for your boots.

The food was amazing with a 5 course gourmet meal every night - be brave kick on and endure! The extras that they added for Xmas were thoughtful and appreciated - Carol singing , presents for the kids - a bowl of biscuits and clementines on Xmas Eve in your room etc etc.

The spa is magical and there is a great range of spa treats on offer. The bar areas are cosy and the Josefs lounge very welcoming. I cannot fault this place at all!

Finally the staff were friendly and helpful and the owners play a large part in the general ambience of the hotel.

Go enjoy and be pampered!

Me and my husband stayed in this hotel for 10 days, in fact, today is our last day here. The hotel as free internet access so I can easily write this review. We have to say that this experience exceeded enourmously our expectations. The hotel is very cosy, romantic, modern but also with personality (not like this modern hotels you see nowadays that you feel that you are sleeping inside a magazine). The staff is very, very nice. They quickly learn your preferences and are happy to fullfill them. We stayed in the Alpine Residence with a spetacular view to the Matterhorn, and we strongly recomend this option. The room is spacious and very pretty. You also have the Alpine Refugium if you like SPAs that is really very nice. The swimming pool is big, but the water is cold, which was a little disappointing. We chosed to have a very warm bath in our beautiful bathroom. The beauty products available are very good and with excellent scents. One special word for the food. The breakfast buffett is great but the gourmet dinner is magnificient. Every day there is a new 5 course menu (1 course is salad thank God, or we would have gained a lot of weight) that is always different and amazing. The Chef must really be a true artist and really good professional. He mixes excelent ingredients in a beautiful manner and it is realy a pleasure to eat this works of art. We loved it, and we will certainly return. Would not recomend this hotel for families with children (we havent brought our) or for groups. It as really a nice cosy, familiar, beautiful atmosphere that is lost if you have a lot of people making a lot of noise.
