Every single aspect of this hotel and it's staff went above and beyond any expectation. Next time I am in zermatt I wouldn't think of staying any where else!

I was in Hotel Rex with my father and brother in the 21st of March to the 28th.
First the chauffeur was a very kind guy thet treated us very well.

Then the room (401) was big and very conforable. The hotel was very clean and with a familiar ambient.

We used to stay in Mirabeau and Rex's spa was even better than Mirabeau's.The breakfast was very complete with very good juices(although not fresh squeezed ...) and bread.

The only upset is the lack of wi-fi in the rooms.

The location was brilliant, near to the best restaurant area of Zermatt and also close to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise Ski lifts.

The staff was 5 star and the view from the room was breathaking.

I'm sure we'll be back to this wonderful hotel.

Booked the Rex through Inghams and cannot fault it at all. Very traditional hotel with outstanding service. We had room 301 and 302 which apart from a great view of the Matterhorn also gave us a shared lounge area. Nothing was ever to much for the staff. Great spa, very decent breakfast and easy access to all that Zermatt has to offer. However no ski in and out which is rare in Zermatt anyway. One thing to keep in mind in Zermatt is that eating out is great but tends to be very expensive at the least 50£ per head but really the sky's the limit. if I were to come back I would consider getting half board which is only about 100 to 150£ more expensive per week.
As far as the skiing goes I was a little bit underwhelmed with Zermatt. Some of the lifts are a bit outdated like endless drag lifts on the glacier and some lifts like the Matterhornexpress and Kleinmatterhorn cable car can have you queue for 45min and more. Also most challenging runs are further down or very high up so when snow and weather is soso all one is left with is relatively unchallenging red and blues. The classification is also a bit strange some Zermatt blacks would pass as light red in Sankt Anton or Val d'Isere.

Just returned from a week at the Rex (booked through Inghams). We cannot praise it enough. We had a standard twin room (303) very clean ,spacious, fantastic view of the Matterhorn, great bathroom (robes & slippers, hairdryer, included), The wellness centre is amazing with plenty of space, saunas, steamrooms ,great pool ( as good as any spa day i've had in the UK) Great location, 2minutes walk to ski bus, or plenty of electric taxis if you prefer (charge 12 CHF,share with others and can drop to 3chf) to any of the 3 main lifts. Great being bed & breakfast as plenty of restaurants to choose from and only 3 -5 minutes walk to the main street but many just around the corner. The Stockhorn (next door to hotel) is amazing for grill or fondue and Grampies is a great Italian. The staff at the Rex are amazing, very polite, helpful and always in the background if needed. Drink prices at the hotel bar are very reasonable. The breakfast is served 0700-1100 and is good, not outstanding but sufficient and fresh. A good ski storage room with individual heated boot warmers in basement. Would definately recommend the Rex .

We stayed at the Rex for 4 nights at the end of Jan 2010. We're both experienced skiers, and love the skiing that Zermatt, and Cervinia offers. The hotel rates on every front - it is close enough to the centre, and yet far enough away. You can walk to the centre of town in 5-7minutes. There are also local shops about 2 minutes away including equipment hire if needed. The bus for the lifts is about a 3 minute walk, or you can grab an electric taxi which are in abundance(Approx 12chf to whichever slope you choose). The hotel has a newly refurbished wellness area (you can get a better idea on the hotels webiste.) The jacuzzi is great, as is the pool, and steam room. Its really spacious and doesnt feel cramped. We had a jnior suite which is excellently sized with a separate lounge area, and two comfy chairs. Breakfast is good (not excellent - but very good). The staff are very friendly, helpful but not intriusive. We left at 6am Monday morning, and despite this they made an effort to wave goodbye! A great hotel. As an aside we struggled to find availability to worth checking out the Swiss Tourist Website - For Zermatt this was great value!!

Stayed here for two nights in August 09, with the middle night staying up at the Bergrestaurant Hotel at Fluhalp. The Rex very kindly looked after our suitcases when we left to go up to Fluhalp, and when we returned for our second night's stay two days later had put our bag in to our new room for us already. We were very grateful for this as we were about to collapse from the two days mountain walking!

Our room was lovely and clean, with a view of the Matterhorn (although it might be that all rooms face it). Nice comfortable bed, sparkling clean bathroom with big fluffy towels, two comfy sun loungers on the balcony for an evening drink, and very helpful friendly staff. (Supermarket nearby to buy beers, and a fridge in the room). The hotel has a swimming pool / sauna. It is in a nice quiet corner of Zermatt, but has some very good restaurants close by, as well as The North Wall Bar (excellent pizzas!) but nothing is far in Zermatt. We walked to the hotel from the station when we arrived to save a taxi fare, and it took less than 10 minutes. An excellent hotel, and as the title says, we couldn't fault it. The breakfast was great; loads of food, both hot and cold.

Zermatt itself is lovely, with plenty of walking opportunities (and skiing in winter). If you like 'hard' walking, I would recommend the night staying up at Fluhalp (they have a website but no email, you have to phone up and book) and then a days walk across and up to Gornergrat glacier, and then down via Riffelalp hotel for a cake in the afternoon.... We are very fit, but the walking at altitude was quite hard going. Don't underestimate it! There is a train up to Gornergrat, however, if you don't like walking, but this was quite pricey I think.

All in all, we wold highly recommend the Rex hotel and Zermatt. Please feel free to email me any questions.

Just the mere experience of staying in this wonderful property is unbelievable! The staff are more than corteous & hospitable & I svery strongly recommend this Hotel. Room No.41 (where I stayed) has probably the best view of the Matterhorn from this Hotel. It is a pity that I was in Zermatt for only 3 days!
