“fantastic new lofts”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 May 2010

We are regular guests at Coeur des alpes. Mostly, we stayed at the penthouse suite in the original building. This year, we tried the new loft. We had the loft "Thomas" which is slightly larger than other lofts, but without Matterhorn view. If Matterhorn view is important for you, ask for a corner loft with view. Our loft was big, on two levels, bright and airy, with large windows and view to the outdoor jacuzzi. We had a pretty terrasse with table and chairs.
The lofts come with strictly modern interiors, but still feels very cosy with comfortable sofa and a fireplace. We loved details like the Nespresso Machine and that the two bathrooms. Our room had a huge bathtube in the living room. All lofts are located in the new building where is also the new lovely spa and part of the new breakfast area. We especially liked the outdoor jacuzzi in the winter time (with a glass of champagne, looking at the stars, lovely!).
Also with the new lofts, the hotel still never feels crowded, the atmosphere is relaxed and you always find a place to sit around the fireplace.
If you are not sure whether to book a suite in the original building or a loft in the new part: The suites have the better view and are on one level while the lofts have a more modern interior and come with a fireplace. Next season, we go again for the penthouse suite because of its view and because it feels more cosy because of the wooden ceiling (only in the penthouse suite). But still, the lofts are amazing and I can recommend them absolutly.

We booked this hotel based on the glowing reviews here on tripadvisor and were happy we did. This hotel actually was the finale to a long multi-day hike we made that started in Chamonix. We arrived smelly and dressed in hiking attire and were still given the red carpet treatment the moment we walked in the door.

We loved the cave entrance from the street (you just have to see it to understand) and found the hotel to be in a perfect location. Our room was very comfortable, bright, and had amazing views although it was a bit small as is typical in Europe.

The lobby area is great for just hanging out and we enjoyed using the telescope to watch climbers on the Matterhorn. Breakfast is also served in this area and it was fantastic.

This is really the perfect hotel in Zermatt.

We stayed for 2 nights in the Hotel Coeur des Alps in August 2009, 2 adults and a 13-year old. We had a suite directly facing the Matterhorn. They picked us up at the train station, and had beverages and snacks waiting for us on arrival. The hotel is very beautiful, very modern and very artistic. The spa facilities are fantastic and quite unique. The owners and desk staff were extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. One thing to note, as is mentioned in other reviews, the bathtub/shower is an integral part of the bedroom, rather than in a separate room. While this is OK for a couple, or honeymooners, it was a bit awkward traveling with a child. But only a bit. We loved this place and will never stay anywhere else on our future trips to Zermatt.

We stayed in the Joel Loft and it was simply beautiful...it has the most magnificent views of the Matterhorn as most of the front and side walls are comprised of glass. Imagine this: you walk into the loft and on your right hand side there is a glass staircase going up to the main bedroom and bathroom. Immediately to your left is a table with chairs, an enormous open bathtub (which allows you to wallow in the bath while watching sunset and the Matterhorn) and a luxurious lounge suite lit up by a chandelier and a fireplace.
There is also a spare bathroom downstairs. The floors of the bathrooms are heated and the duvets and pillows are these huge, delightfully fluffy affairs. You can step out of the Joel Loft onto a terrace with a table and chairs.
The spa area has a heated pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steambath etc. and has fresh fruit and drinks laid out. There is also an outside jacuzzi area and sitting in this heated water in freezing snow was a memorable experience! You can also book massages etc.
Thank you to Thomas, Leni and the staff for such a wonderful time!

This hotel made our Switzerland trip! I travel over 50% of the year and few hotels can compare to the unique experience at Coeur des Alpes. Complementary transportation to and from the train was provided, and we were greeted by the owners with champagne. The personal touches made you feel very welcome; such as the hand written note in your suite. The reservation was simple and check in took less than five minutes. The views of the Matterhorn from your bed when you wake up in the morning are incredible. Very short walk to the ski lifts. The atmosphere at the bar and in the lobby are great for après ski, and don’t forget to try out the spa.

What can I say - this is how all hotels should be - intimate, funky, classy and amazing service.

Leni and Thomas are interested in all their guests and take time to see the are enjoying themnelves. Nothing is too much trouble at Coeurs des Alpes. And then you get the best view in town of the Matterhorn too!

A particular thank you to Daniella, a very kind host who looked after us. I shall be back next year!

Thank you!
