“Amazing coctails”
Reviewed 31 January 2014

We had friends staying at this hotel so many times we had a drink with them on this bar. In one word: Amazing!
Everything is so amazingly decorated and staff are super friendly and speak at least 3 languages. The nice surprise is that their prices are less expensive than other bars in Zermatt! The coctails are very good, but their selection of whiskys is relative small. If you are in Zermatt you should definitely go at least for a drink.

“Why no Michelin stars?”
Reviewed 29 March 2013

This is certainly the best restaurant I have eaten in which does not have 3 Michelin stars. I would rank it just behind the Waterside Inn in Bray, and equal with Gordon Ramsay's at Claridge's, Dinners by Heston Blumenthal and even the Fat Duck (which is a bit up itself).

In the Backstage Hotel one would expect a certain amount of theatre and After Seven does not disappoint. One does not choose one's meal but is given the opportunity to suggest things one is allergic to or simply doesn't like. Oh, and if one would like 4 or 7 courses.

We chose 4 courses, which came with no less than 6 additional dishes including:
- a lamb sausage amuse-bouche
- pear: water, crisp and chocolate
- 3 ways of eating carrott
<starter of eel on quail egg with caviar and a foam somewhat undersold as "potato soup">
- bread which is cooked at your table, oils, a sculpture of Montblanc in butter, and herbs still growing
<salmon>
- veal in consomme
<veal main course - divine>
- wasabi and lime chocolate and ice-cream combination
<desert or cheese - both fantastic>
- extensive choice of petit fours

Apparently there is an option for a wine accompaniment, which was not offered to us. We chose instead the house red which they are deservedly very proud of,

If you are staying in Zermatt, make sure you eat here once. Although I would not recommend it for children or anybody with a fixed view of what constitutes and "good meal,"

“Not just hype ... Superb delivery”
Reviewed 6 January 2013

For the past 10 years, we spend about 4 weeks yearly in this superb resort. Time to give some feedback to the overall high quality restaurants in the area.
After Seven opened this December and we HAD to go there to see if Ivo Adam can deliver. Ineed he can. Many times we got disapointed by big names but this young chef got the "like it" from all four of us.
FIrst you choose menu items that you do NOT like to eat. Then the kitchen crew under the lead of Ivo Adam takes over. We had 4 course meal and got plenty of food, which can be a challenge in this kind of establishments. It is not cheap. 4 course dinner 120 CHF. Wine paring, which I can highly recommend was another 50 CHF.
The perfect place for a special occasion of just as a reward for a good day of powder skiing.
YOU MUST HAVE RESERVATION.
