“nothing much to talk about”
Reviewed 27 April 2013

we were there for a night in Zermatt at the Albatros. The Hotel is really far away from the railway station , so if u have had a long journey , n are with luggage or small kids , then its a long walk , mostly on a gradient so it gets tiring. Also, the staff is hardly there n not very co-operative, n the main boss when spoken with over the phone regarding a problem that we encountered was ver non cooperative n downright rude. The rooms are good , with a safe vault , clean, n the buffet breakfast too is good enough. Even when we asked for assistance n help regarding the timings and different rates of the Matterhorn , we were rudely just handed over a small pamphlet which was on the reception. The hotel is good ,tho'' neither close to Matterhorn nor close to the station , nor close to the main church nor the city square, and of course the staff needs to be given lessons in courtesy.

a small but charming hotel. located near the Matterhorn glacier express cable car (650meter) and just 5-10min into the city center.
try to book rooms in the 3rd floor, the view is stunning!
enjoy your stay

I would like to start with the perfectly friendly staff. From the first moment we entered the hotel, the staff at the reception, restaurant and other parts of the hotel tried to help us in any ways they can. They were very friendly and smiling all the time. The rooms were big and cozy with a big bathroom. You definitely feel like home. The location of the hotel was perfect. It was close to a bus stop where you can reach the lifts easily or you can also choose to walk because the lifts are also very close to the hotel. They came to pick us up from the train station upon our request. When I return to Zermatt, I will definitely choose to stay in Hotel Albatros again.

What do you expect from Zermatt? Nature, hiking, skiing, the Matterhorn? But there is more. Hotels like the Albatros will make your stay complet.
We come to the Albatros every Year again for a week in wntertime and for us it is just like changing one home to the other. Our hostes are more than friendly and when ever you have a problem, they are glad to help you.
The other good Thing about the Albatros is the location. Even it ist not right in the center of Zermatt, you will reach it by foot in 7 Minutes. It also means that it is very quiet in th night and you won't hear any partypeople till early in the morning.
The rooms are very clean and cosy. Especially the Juniorsuites with its big bathtubes are perfect for making evening at home.
Speaking about the evening: the Albatros doesn't have a restaurant and that is good so. Don't go to Zermatt in a Hotel with half Board, if Not necessary. Zermatt offers you more than enough perfect Locations to have a great dinner.
So we think Zermatt with the Albatros is something that goes perfectly together.

Room Tip: Suite or Juniorsuites

We spent a wonderful week at the Hotel Albatros just before Christmas. The friendly and helpful owners, Anette and Yves, and their efficient multi-lingual staff (Andrea and Rosa on Reception and Isabella in the breakfast room) make every stay unique. As has been mentioned by other reviewers, the hotel is just enough out of the way to be quiet but close enough to walk easily to the Klein Matterhorn ski lift, bars, restaurants and shops. In fact, nothing in Zermatt is far, even on the coldest, stormiest days. The hotel is also spotlessly clean everywhere. The wellness room on the lower level boasts showers, sauna and steam room, very nice after a cold day on the mountain. Breakfast selection is varied ( breads, cheeses, cold cuts, cereals, fruit, yogourt etc) and you can order eggs and bacon or whatever you like from the kitchen. You can also order various types of coffee, my favourite being cappuccino. Although tHe hotel does not have a restaurant, the staff and owners will gladly recommend places to eat and make reservations for you. Everything at this hotel is done with a genuine concern for the guest's well being. That is why they have so many guests who return year after year as will we..

Room Tip: If you want a room with a view of the glorious Matterhorn, book early as these fill up first in high...

we have just returned from a week in Zermatt for Christmas, this hotel is superb!
we have stayed at other hotels in zermatt, all are good, but we did like this one, its just far enough off the busy areas to be quiet, the rooms and sleep quality is superb, there is just no noise!! the rooms are great and have everything you need, from mini bar to balcony to bathrobe and chocolates on your pillow at night!! they also do a turn down service, which is a nice touch to come back in the evening to a tidy bathroom and fresh towels.
Breakfast is great, very tasty, the boot room is great and we had many a relaxing hour in the wellness area, which is beautifully clean and very peaceful, a sauna and steam room is very welcoming after a hard days skiing!
The couple who own this hotel, Annette & Yves are great, very charming and greeted us like old family! Yves took us to the station in his electric milk float when we left even though we had booked a taxi, which he then cancelled for us! Thankyou! Do not hesitate to book this, you will not be disappointed!!

Room Tip: All the rooms are great!!

I’ve just returned from a skiing holiday in Zermatt and I stayed at the Hotel Albatros. I don’t normally write reviews but I was so impressed by the personal service this hotel offered that I felt I should write about it.
The hotel staff are so friendly and the owners are very helpful and accommodating. The rooms are clean. comfortable and as another review points out - they are exactly as shown in the pictures. They provide bath robes and slippers which I personally love to have as an extra.
The hotel is located in a quiet street but does have a couple of bars nearby and the nearest restaurant is only a few minutes walk.
So overall a very nice experience and we would definitely return again.
